All About Ramadan: What You Need to Know - Sunday Aug 24, 08
Published by Haseeb August 18th, 2008 in Events, Islam, MECCA“Whoever does not leave off ruinous speech and acting on it (during Ramadan), God does not need him to leave off eating and drinking.” [Bukhari/Muslim]
The blessed month of Ramadan is almost upon us. Come learn the in-depth fiqh (legal rulings) of fasting to attain most benefit during this blessed time. The essence of fasting lies in spiritual upliftment and closeness to God, which may only be gained through sincerity, commitment and proper knowledge. M.E.C.C.A. has realized this timely need for spiritual upliftment and has organized this day long seminar to fulfill the need. If you’re unable to attend the whole program, come for the later half and only pay $10 for registration; now you can’t beat that offer.
Don’t miss out! Come to M.E.C.C.A. center for this dynamic informational seminar next Sunday August 24, 2008 from 11:30 - 5:30 p.m.
In this intensive workshop, students will learn not only about the technical aspects of Ramadan, but also the spiritual and practical aspects of this blessed month. Most new Muslims are told to fast without actually being told what fasting entails. We will explore the Fiqh (legal rulings) of Fasting, including things to do to increase reward and things to avoid that may negate the same rewards. We will also elaborate on one’s relationship with God and using Ramadan as a means to get closer to Him. Some of the basic rules of Zakat-ul-Mal (tithe on wealth) and Zakat-ul-Fitr (tithe for the poor) will be discussed. And of course, what’s Ramadan without a little enjoyment? We will show students Halal and meritorious ways of celebrating Ramadan and ‘Eid, and discuss ways to strengthen community and brotherhood.
