Yes We Can - Barack Obama Music Video

Barack Hussain Obama truly is an amazing speaker. My father compared his speeches to poetry. Check out this song produced by Will.I.Am (of the Black Eyed Peas) - whose lyrics are entirely taken from Barack’s “Yes We Can” speech in South Carolina:

Please encourage all of your friends/family/communities to get out and vote for Barack this Super Tuesday. Barack is by far the best remaining candidate running for President and we all need to support him!

Yes, We Can! - Si, Se Puede!

Celebrities featured include: Jesse Dylan, will.i.am, Common, Scarlett Johansson, Tatyana Ali, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Adam Rodriquez, Kelly Hu, Adam Rodriquez, Amber Valetta, Eric Balfour, Aisha Tyler, Nicole Scherzinger and Nick Cannon

Lyrics:

It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.

Yes we can.

It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.

Yes we can.

It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.

Yes we can.

It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land.

Yes we can to justice and equality.

Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.

Yes we can heal this nation.

Yes we can repair this world.

Yes we can.

We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.

We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics…they will only grow louder and more dissonant ……….. We’ve been asked to pause for a reality check. We’ve been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.

But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.

Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea –

Yes. We. Can.

It’s rather troubling that you would go the distance for someone who vehemently denies his Muslim heritage despite that both his father and stepfather were. (Check out: http://www.barackobama.com/factcheck/2007/11/12/obama_has_never_been_a_muslim_1.php)

The pages is taken from Obama’s official website, fyi. Why couldn’t he just say he is no longer a Muslim? Why must he say that suggestions that he is or was a Muslim is “smearing” his identity and candidacy? Since when is choosing to be a Muslim a bad thing? I’m troubled by Obama and the cult that surrounds him.

Just because that disgusting Coulter threw her weight (whatever it’s worth) behind Clinton doesn’t make Clinton a less credible option. That, my dear brother in Islam, is called guilt by association. (You know, something that we as Muslims are all too familiar with - “Al Qaeda is a terrorist organization and its members profess to be Muslims, therefore all Muslims are terrorists!”)

May Allah (SWT) (SWT) guide and protect us all. Please do forgive me if I offended anybody - considering I am Canadian and it’s not my race for the presidency! (But the outcome does affect me and all Canadians seeing as we are immediate neighbours.)

    Assalaamualaikum canadian observer,
    i feel your pain.
however, i think we need to be practical at the same time.
In the conservative christian country we live in (although we tend not to see it that way), being a muslim IS ruining your chances for presidency. And that’s especially true with the current smear campaign against islam. I mean it’s like a black person trying to run for presidency during slavery (but not that severe of course alhamdulillah). But i mean..you’ve got NO chance. And the people that are trying to label him as being muslim ARE doing it to smear his candidacy.
Youtube “barack islam”, or google it, and you’ll see what i mean.
BUT he did also say on a news interview (roughly, not word for word) the other day that it’s sad that being muslim is something that would even smear his candidacy because it speaks to a bigger problem which is muslim/islam phobia. and that he wants to change that when he becomes president. He wants to rid some of the bias. He also confirmed that he was a christian and not a muslim with the added statement that muslims are deserving of respect and dignity.
    also, check this out.

And!! Clinton was one of the people who brought up the whole madrasa thing. So she’s trying to use that phobia card that obama’s talking about.
    That’s my opinion. Allahu ‘aalim.

cleveland county: ur welcome (& my pleasure!)

    samara: i agree

radf: im glad u like this video (and im sorry u didnt like the barack bollywood one, lol)

Doa: thank u for responding to Canadian Observer’s comments. I agree completely and would like to add the following:

The undeniable fact is that a great segment of the American population is very stupid and ignorant of Islam - and the very mention of Barack as a Muslim would give indeed disqualify him from any consideration. Several Republican candidates had their campaigns based entirely on anti-Muslim rhetoric including Tom Tancredo and Rudy Giuliani, but Alhamdulillah those 2 are long gone. Moreover, even the Republican frontrunner McCain has publicly said that it would not be appropriate to have a Muslim run for President in the US (which many civil liberty (including Jewish) groups vehemently opposed). - So there is animosity against Muslims rampant in much of America unfortunately.

That is why Barack had to clearly state that he is not, nor ever was a Muslim. MANY emails are being sent around the internet stating that Barack is secretly an extremist muslim, etc. and this propaganda is entirely unfair.

A great segment of American society would have also loved to see MLK and Malcolm X put to death for saying that black people and white people were equal (and they were), yet they did it anyways. They never denied their equality and frankly look at how favourably history looks upon them. Obama could stand and say “So what if I am or ever was a Muslim, I can still lead effectively.” [Think Keith Ellison.] As far as I’m concerned, he missed that opportunity and now that he is doing relatively well in the race he’s bactracking and spinning his words to read almost favourably for Muslims (somehow him fighting Islamophobia after he wins presidency seems unlikely considering other pressing issues like the war). That is what I call opportunism (or buying votes, if you will). Sorry to ruffle your feathers. I suscribe to the saying that change comes from within and when we settle for the “practical” or second-rate option it speaks volumes to our conception of ourselves.

    Allah (SWT) knows best.

Actually I did have a concern, it’s the cult like atmosphere of the Obama campaign. Even his staff called it that. Some people are making him into a messiah and that gets dangerous for him and his family. I know his wife recently said so in an interview that he wasn’t to be deified because he is just a man. *reminds me of the Jesus Christ Superstar song*
