Before Islam I was lost
And after Islam I was lost
Between this and that group
Was I tossed
A bookstore Shaykh
Not even worth a dollar
With do-it-yourself Islam
Who needs a scholar?
Tossed so much
Might as well been a salad
I was quoting Hadeeth
But my wudu was invalid
If I can’t purify my outer
Then what about my inner?
Piles of books
But still a big sinner
What I know, doesn’t show
And now I know better
That’s what happens without the spirit
And only the letter
So attach myself I must
To scholars with unbroken chains
For this is the means
By which pure knowledge remains

… And here’s our #1 hit “The ISOC Rap” - The Moro’s next single “LoveISOC” featuring Monzee and Da Shak (from “Da 4 Amigos” fame):
El Moro
My very first day I still remember so bright
Life’s journey in the ‘Pool had just begun
Away from family and friends, hurtin’ so long
Alone, no where to ride, nowhere to have fun
Monzee
Food amongst your specialties as Monzee once said
Munching at Master Chef, Nandos, small or big Kimos
During ramadhan iftaars, meetings and at Mr. B’s flat
I chilled proper with my committee, homies and amigos
Da Shak
Whenever I needed you, always there for me (always)
Each day facing problems or damn PBL
Throughout the days of pain, rain and fitnah (sorrow)
You gave me solace, my heaven from hell
Chorus
We all need somebody to lean on
Somebody to support, trust, befriend
You’ll still be in my heart when I’m long gone
LoveISOC, my LivISOC, LoveISOC, I LoveISOC
O’ LivISOC, I’ll be loving you to the end
El Moro
Fell for you at Freshers Fair, felt Welcomed at your Dinner
Came to your long meetings, realized my responsibility
Cultured evenings, courses and circles, enjoyed them all
The name be El Moro, chosen team of destiny be Publicity
Monzee
Madad ki tu ne meri kitni mere hidayat ke qaatir (rabb ka shukr)
Mohabbatein aur hamdardi se samhaala mujhe LivISOC
Sikha diya mujhe tu ne fiqh, seerah, arabic aur tasawwuff
Teri pareshaani mere liye, banaadi mujhe tera aashiq
Da Shak
Stopped my Medication, no more Time for Tunnel (hell)
Blinded with Double Vision, was still dreamin’ of Cream
Choking on my smokin’, booze abuse, eyeing up girls (wake up)
You always keepin’ it halaal helped me quit the haraam
Chorus
We all need somebody to lean on
Somebody to support, trust, befriend
You’ll still be in my heart when I’m long gone
LoveISOC, my LivISOC, LoveISOC, I LoveISOC
O’ LivISOC, I’ll be loving you to the end
El Moro
Guiding and advising me, helping me help myself
Struggling thru racism, nationalism and strife
Visited me like a soft breeze in my troubled times
Betch ya’ I’m gonna be a Falkner terrorist for life
Monzee
Grand plans and projects, always aiming high for success
Gave hope to Hope and helped JMU in their hour of need
Politicking, socials, academic help; jack of all trades be ya’
Kept it real, da’wah and knowledge to earn every good deed
Da Shak
Yeah, I thank you God for gettin’ me out (thank You)
Finally baby I am free from the ‘Pool of Mersey
Good times I had with LivISOC and at Uni, so cool (yeah)
Got myself strong faith, a nice wife and a MBChB
Chorus
We all need somebody to lean on
Somebody to support, trust, befriend
You’ll still be in my heart when I’m long gone
LoveISOC, my LivISOC, LoveISOC, I LoveISOC
O’ LivISOC, I’ll be loving you to the end
