Course: Qur’an 102
Title: Tafseer-ul-Qur’an (Understanding the Qur’an)

Description: The Holy Qur’an is the most important source of understanding Islam in order to practice it. This course will introduce students to the development, methodology and schools of Qur’an exegesis (i.e. Tafseer). The entire field of Islamic scholarship is intended to be the means to the goal of practicing and applying the Qur’an. Using the different approaches of Tafseer, this course will outline the Qur’an’s approach to individual, societal and global issues that face Muslims in America and the world today.
Credits: 3 (towards degree or certificate)

Description: This course will explain a selection of the most important Sunnah texts in guiding the lives of individuals and societies. The selection is chosen from the famous and most popular collection of Hadith by Imam An-Nawawi. The selection includes a wide range of topics such as A’qidah (Theology), I’badat (worship), Tarbiyah (self purification and discipline), Mua’amalat (social and financial transactions), Social responsibility, and Da’wah among many others. Participants will grasp a greater understanding and appreciation of the Sunnah for its eloquence, sensitivity and comprehensiveness of almost all aspects of life.
