Aliens in America - Series Premiere tonight
Published by Haseeb October 1st, 2007 in Entertainment, TelevisionTonight, the long awaited TV Show “Aliens in America” debuts on the CW11 at 8:30 ET. Its basically about the experiences of Pakistani Muslim exchange student to an all-white school in a suburban American town. This series, which will be shown across North America in the CW channel, has great potential to help curb misunderstandings about Muslims. I hope its successful in doing just that!
Here is the official TV Trailer:

Hopefully it goes well. Unfortunately, it looks like it’s going to play on a lot of cultural stereotypes about Indo-Paks and Muslims. Not a single Pakistani I know talks like that. And having him looking at his host’s daughter that way?! I don’t like how they’re always stereotyping that Eastern Muslim men are so devout (and many times naive) until they get a glimpse of a Western woman. Like they don’t have pretty women in Pakistan?
Anyways, maybe it will be good. If they can get past all that and get into some substance. Since it is a comedy, that may present a difficulty in that they are relying on the stereotypes to be funny. In that case, they need to exercise more creativity!
