Contrast their statements with that of Tom Glavine, who said it’s not devastating, there’s more important things in life. True — but considering his salary, plus his role in the team’s failure, it is pretty important. If it weren’t that important, maybe he should get paid $15,000 a year?
Anyway, I’m a Yankees fan. Very happy about the Mets loss — cuz they’re a team of losers. But David Wright and Delgado are the exception. They need to build the team around Wright. Reyes and Milledge aren’t winners. They should trade them for some better guys. Anyway, have a great fall and winter. At least we won’t have any more traffic on the LIE/GCP around Shea Stadium!
I agree with u Arif. We deserve a team that wears their hearts on their sleeves. As much as Lo Duca stunk it up these past couple of weeks - he played with emotion and I respect that - the same goes for a handful of other Mets.
Glavine should not be brought back under any circumstances, and should be banned from New York City permanently. He is a disgrace to that Mets uniform.
This is what the Mets should do:
1. Trade Jose Reyes for Johan Santana
2. Sign A-Rod (who will opt out of his yankee contract) to play SS
3. Trade Beltran & Billy Wagner for Vladimir Guerrero or Magglio Ordonez
4. Sign Tori Hunter (Free Agent)
5. Re-sign Moises Alou
6. Sign Joe Nathan (Free Agent)
7. Buy a bullpen Francisco Cordero (Free Agent), Jeremy Affeldt (Free Agent), JC Romero (Free Agent), Adam Kennedy (Free Agent) - at least 3 of these guys!
8. Force Glavine to Retire
9. Re-sign Luis Castillo
10. Re-sign Ramon Castro
11. Re-sign Shawn Green
12. Re-sign Paul Lo Duca
13. Sign Kris Benson (Free Agent)
14. And sign Barry Bonds to split time with Alou in LF
This is what the NEW METS Should look like:
Starting Rotation: Santana, Pedro, Perez, Maine, Benson
Closer: Joe Nathan
Lineup:
2B - Castillo
3B - Wright
RF - Guerrero / Ordonez
SS - A-Rod
LF - Alou & Bonds (both split time at this position as both are old and injury prone)

I thought you didn’t care about baseball anymore? That’s exactly what the Mets need to do: acquire 8 new players! Barry Bonds is definitely a team player. Smart to bring him on board. Kris Benson, wasn’t he already on the Mets?

Reyes for all account has sullied his reputation, if he can’t get along with Willie who is not intense enough how will he get along with Gardenheire. Also not running out balls and strutting is not something that the twins like to do,

Let’s see if he opts out first before we put this in to place, remember he didn’t sign with you once before so who’s to say that he signs with you now? Let’s be honest if he wants to stay in NY it is with the Yankees why should be second fiddle to Jeter when now he has been outshining him on his own team and he has become the face of the Yankees.
3. Trade Beltran & Billy Wagner for Vladimir Guerrero or Magglio Ordonez
Again you won’t be able to trade Beltran for Vlad it just isn’t happening. And trading Wagner for Ordonez who just won the batting title?
4. Sign Tori Hunter (Free Agent)
Done you got him - good move
5. Re-sign Moises Alou
Done you got him - good move for a part time player don’t count on too much production from him.
6. Sign Joe Nathan (Free Agent)
He won’t leave the Twins.
7. Buy a bullpen Francisco Cordero (Free Agent), Jeremy Affeldt (Free Agent), JC Romero (Free Agent), Adam Kennedy (Free Agent) - at least 3 of these guys!
8. Force Glavine to Retire
He has a players option so you may be stuck with him buddy.
