Recently, I wrote about a great Pakistani Film, Khuda Ke Liye. This ground-breaking film raises several controversial issues that truly affect most of our Muslim communities across the world. I ended the post posing a series of questions that I believe need to be clearly addressed. Yesterday, a friend linked me to the following Pakistani tv program which does just this. This program discusses these issues in a very well balanced non-confrontational approach. I haven’t had the time to watch it all yet, but it seems like a great program. And thankfully, subtitles are provided :) Alhamdulillah! Part 1: Part 2: Part 3: Part 4: Part 5:

    Wow subhanallah,
I wish they had more points.

In the Qur’aan it does say clearly that a muslim woman is not allowed to be married to a non-muslim man.
I cant believe the professor dude did not remember. The Maulana was right. This particular ayah mentions to the affect adn do not marry your daughters to one who is mushrik, a believing slave is better.

Also, a muslim woman who is married to a non-muslim man is considered in a state of zinaa (or fornication). Any children she has from that relationship are considered attributed to her alone and hence take her name and lineagea and as a result her religion.

The movie is metaphorical but it also mentions that just like alcohol and lying are sinning so is a muslim woman who is married to a non-muslim sinning since this is not allowed in Islam. However, she is a sinner at that and does not in now way leave the pale of islam.

Secondly, the point about Dawood AS having a beautiful voice and singing and even had a musical instrument is true, however, the shariah of Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) SAW was different than the sharia of Prophet Dawood AS, you cannot take that example to legitimize music. Because at the time of earlier nations or Prophets, drinking in moderation was allowd but in our Sharia of the Prophet SAW it is not allowed.

“….sharia of Prophet Dawood AS, you cannot take that example to legitimize music.”

but you can use the arguement to substantiate other evidences, just like some of the classical scholars have done.
