Softballers 10-0!

SoftballersWe continued our dominance of the SASL yet again this week back to back wins over the Hustlaz (1-9). For those of you keeping count at home, thats 19 wins in a row for the ‘Ballers extending from last season!!!!

Game Recap courtesy of Raheel Malick (Nihari Behari):

Wantagh Park, NY - The Softballers faced Hustlaz today in an afternoon match up that almost never took place. Hustlaz were short of players and started with only 3 outfielders and no catcher. A few of their players were playing out of position and some players just did not look comfortable on the field. Hustlaz got their catcher in the middle of the 1st game but it was too late as they lost 15-3 in the first game and 17-9 in the second.

Raheel Malick, made his ‘Baller debut at 2B, a position he has never started before, as Saquib Siddiqi is out indefinitely with bursitis in his hip. Siddiqi has made it quite difficult for anyone to fill his cleats as he has made some spectacular plays at 2B and carries a powerful bat. However, Malick held down 2B pretty well both games, and turned a 1-4-3 double play to end an inning in the first game. He also hit a HR in his first at-bat to lead off the 2nd inning.

Zackaria Saeed, who made his debut as a pitcher, held Hustlaz down to just 3 runs in the first game and also pitched a gem in the 2nd game. It looks as if ‘Ballers have found yet another good pitcher on their roster.

The offense was carried by SS Zeeshan Shaikh who started at SS, but then pulled himself out due to pain in his throwing arm and was replaced by captain Usman Ghumman. Shaikh returned later after taking a pain killers, and played the entire second game. Shaikh had a solid offensive performance as he hit a 3-run HR in the first game and had a 9 RBI day (6 in game 1). He made 1 out all day.

The ‘Ballers are now 10-0, and look to continue their winning streak against Dynasty next week.

Goli Mar!
