ya’ll in the US better watch it!! or i’ll hit you with a horse shoe, hee hawwww
Fox? ew…
But yay for Kareem Salama
i dunno, i think we should seperate fox news when it comes to its journalist integrity and certain political views while realizing that many of people who listen to fox are really good family oriented people, even if they get swayed by certain conservative political rhetoric that we are against.
so in that way, i would rather have kareem on FOX than any other channel, cuz people watching FOX will be the most receptive to his type of music.
so in this case, i am not against FOX
why dont u upload it?
plzzzz
Oooh please upload it!!!!!!
Btw, out of curiosity how do you know Kareem is gonna be on Fox? Just wondering……
same here (6) how did u know?
hahhahah i don’t get the last three comments…
firstly, haseeb knows cuz he is has mirrors to the secrets of the unknown cuz he is secretly a spiritual guide
secondly, the man said he WOULD upload it to the site if someone puts it online, and i’m sure someone will..
thirdly, whats with all the frowns…hahahah
Salaams,
Insha’Allah
Kareem will definitely be on Fox. He will be performing in New Jersey as well on June 16th at the Islam in the West event. http://islaminthewest.org/artsfest/
Also look for his second CD coming later this year insha’Allah
. If you thought the first CD was good, you will be blown away by his forthcoming effort. Although Allah
has blessed him with a beautiful voice, it’s his song writing ability that sets him apart. We ask Allah
to shower His choicest blessings on Kareem and give him the best of this life and specially the next. We look for great things from him insha’Allah
.
Joan: Brother Tariq Subhani (of the MECCA Center) told me about Kareem’s upcoming Fox News apperance.
I’A i hope to see you all at the event in Jersey this upcoming June!
Haha, Saad relax I was kidding. If he’s on Fox, even better for those who may have misconceptions about Muslims, he can break those stereotypes.
Seems like some of you have some very strong predjudices against and misconceptions about anyone who who may watch Fox News….. Have fun with that.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Thank you Brothers Haseeb and Tariq
Oooops i dint finish and pressed submit by mistake! It was great to Kareem dispelling the stereotypical attititudes of many people who see all of us muslims as terrorists. I found it amusing when the presenter says “you kept your muslim ways” lol! Its as if Kareem had to answer for all of us, it was inevitable this was going to happen. But hey!…He did a very good job, we’r all very proud of him
Aaaggghh, his segment was much shorter than i had hoped, but then what can you expect. He answered the guy’s questions very well, and it was nice to see him, even for such a short segment.
Tariq: I agree with you about his writing ability. His lyrics almost make me cry. Well, sometimes they actually do…
Alhamdulillah. What a great brother. We need more “anomalous” Muslims like him.
I found his comments to be very problematic. He should have taken a stronger stance on issues such as Racial profiling. I felt he was just apologetic.
I didn’t find his comments too problematic. He’s a country music singer, not a representative of CAIR.
What he said was honest and the fact that he didn’t take a standoff-ish disposition makes him more likable and makes him seem rational, which is useful when there are so many forces that want to ostracize Muslims in general.
Nothing he said was inaccurate, but he didn’t really contribute anything to clarify the cause of terrorism except that they are “wretched”…but whatever he represented us well.
Thnx brothers .
As was said before, Kareem’s comments were right on the mark. It’s very difficult to be on the hot seat; even the most experienced professional communicators crack under the pressure so for Kareem to be clear and composed was great to see by God’s grace and mercy.
Americans of other faiths were pretty uncomfortable with Muslim statements concerning Sept. 11 shortly after the devastating attack occurred because they were put off by what they saw as Muslim wish-washiness about terrorism. Sept. 11 can’t be explained away (terrorism is absolutely forbidden no matter how legit the grievances) and so for Muslims to say “Yeah we condemn Sept. 11, but what do you expect?” or “We condemn Sept. 11 as we condemn American policies in…”, many non-Muslims wanted clear-cut answers that condemned not only the act, but the pople who did it and those who supported them. Kareem was emphatic and not wishy-washy. Muslims must speak to people on their level and for many middle-class, dominant culture, white Americans, hearing a straightforward answer about Sept. 11 and terrorism in general was “anomalous” and really challenged many individuals’ perceptions ideas abut Islam and Muslims.
May God bless Kareem and his family and give us the strength to strive forward as he has in contributing positively to the enrichment of the Muslim American experience and American society in general.
I liked it. Great exposure for Kareem
great interview
and I agree, being stand-offish is the job of a CAIR rep, singers have the freedom to make an honest connection with people.
also there’s a time and place for everything. There are times when we criticize things that are wrong with America, and there are times when we criticize things that are wrong with muslims.
i’m dying to hear the second album!
he’s definitely an apologist. Here’s the summary:
Cavuto: “how would you feel if muslims were attacked following a terrorist attack?”
Guy: “i would actually feel really bad for the people killed in the terrorist attack. Their attackers are wretched people”
Cavuto: “but what about the americans who would react to the attack by attacking innocent muslim people?”
Guy: “again, i haven’t even thought about that. I’d first be concerned that so many innocent people have died”.
What kind of an answer is that? He’s trying soooo hard to be agreeable to toby keith and fox news. You know what that says? spineless.
Thomas: Why wouldn’t we feel worse for the ppl who die in the attack? Our lives may get a bit more difficult (or a lot), but they and their families would be getting the brunt of it. I thought it was an excellent answer, and showed that we are not so selfish that we’d be only thinking of ourselves if something happened. I didn’t think he was trying to be agreeable; just the opposite in fact! It would have been more “agreeable” for him to just answer the guy’s question directly.
As muslims we should condemn the killing if innocent people and that is exactly what Kareem meant by saying the people who commit these acts; they ARE wretched people. That Cavuto was trying to get Kareem to apologise for the acts of others. And to ask if he would hide if another type of “islamic” attack hit the states?! What is that about?! It was a very wishy washy interview on the part of Cavuto, he spoke as if Kareem couldnt speak English! And he had to force that laugh when Kareem mentioned the wife bit. And he kept saying MUSLIM COUNTRY SINGER, well they would’nt call Tim McGraw CHRISTIAN COUNTRY SINGER……. I dont think at all that Kareem was trying to be “aggreeable” with toby keith and fox news, he was saying it as is.
the reason i’m saying he was being agreeable was b/c he didn’t want to say anything negative about the “jump on the band wagon put a flag on your suv racists” who would start committing hate crimes. and btw, alot of sikhs and some muslims were killed following the terrorist attacks so you ought to clarify your position on “our lives would get a little difficult”. and the reason cavuto didn’t understand the wife joke….THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO USE OR UNDERSTAND THAT JOKE ARE MUSLIMS. im not kidding you. i had no idea what that wife thing was all about until i hung out with muslims and i never heard it anywhere else. it’s a lost in cultural translation thing.
Hmmnn….. the commentator talked about the next “Islamic” attack… WTH….. how the hell can any kind of attack be referred to as Islamic? I thought Kareem was very apologetic, On behalf of the Ummah he was taking the blame for acts of terrorism. Geeez……
A lot of muslims and sikhs were endangered after the attacks, but keep in mind there were muslims who died on 911. And having a size-able population in this country, muslims also suffer anytime the country suffers.
As far as Kareem’s comments, the brother is his own person with his own views. We shouldnt always compel him to speak for us. He’s an artist not a CAIR rep, and artists are free.
However, if he himself has opted to speak for the community, then I’d probably advise him not to.

It is rather interesting to note the way Fox News brought in Kareem Salama just after their report about profiling of the Muslims in USA on May 9th 2008.
Then note the way Neil Cavuto brings not only Salama’s beliefs and practices but that of his parents too. I wonder if Cavuto will pose the same set of questions to
say, Christian Country Singer, Ron Carpenter. The interview would have proved far more meaningful if it could bring out how creatively Salama combines the cultural richness of the East and West.
Sky News UK had interviewed on 13 July one of the Expo’s stars as “first Muslim Country singer” coincinding with the Cultural Diversity Expo at Olympya London where many experienced first hand Salama’s impressive performance. Follow the links to see the unique artistic expression
