Graffiti Mural for the Bronx Fire Victims- Volunteers Needed
Published by Haseeb April 12th, 2007 in Current NewsAs you all might have heard already that Mohammad Ali, an urban artist from the UK will be touring the US, visiting New York, Chicago, and Boston where he will deliver seminars in conjunction with the Arts Council of England and will produce a series of Graffiti Murals including a special commemoration in the Bronx for the 9 Muslim children who died in a blaze there recently http://www.aerosolarabic.com/v2/news.php?id=73
We need volunteers to help fix the wall that has been reserved for Mohammad Ali to create a mural dedicatd to and in the memory of the 9 Muslim victims of the recent Bronx fire. The job is easy. We need to remove the old paint and then put on one layer of paint on the wall to have it ready for Mohammad Ali to do his art. This needs to be done by Monday (4.16.07) morning and any and all help will be appreciated.
If you are interested to help out this project… for the pleasure of Allah

As-salamu ‘alaykum,
Just read this entry on Aerosolarabic’s blog: Chicago Mural Suspended-Friday the 13th and Chicago City Politics
The mural has been indefinitely postponed due several complications, among them, ignorant and seemingly bigoted firefighters…

Oh, and by the way, we did our own research on this “permit” that we are supposed to have for painting this wall., and it turns out, that they had no right to stop us as permits are required for commerical signs and advertisements, and public art is excluded. So its all bit fishy…..!
—The following is an article relating yesterdays depressing events and extreme ignorance that led to the temp. cancellation of the ICNA Chicago Mural—
