Burdah Night @ Zaytuna - 3 Parts!

Disclaimer: If you think this is bid’ah - I respectfully disagree with you and I would appreciate it if you refrained from leaving such comments expressing your opinion. Jazakallah Khair.

I recently came back across this clip of Quran Recital from Burdah Night at the Zaytuna Institute from a couple years ago (Source: Wisdoms and Witticisms).

Subhanallah, I dont know how anyone cannot be moved by such recital. Does anyone know if any other Quranic recitation by this man is available on the web or elsewhere to purchase?

Moreover, did you know that there are two other parts from this famous Burdah Night online? Here they are:

What is burdah? I don’t think they are reciting Qu’ran, or am I wrong? Is it like praise to Allah (SWT)?

That specific portion by Shaykh Murtada Bakour was the Quran I believe.

The burda is an arabic poem celebrating the exalted rank of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) (saw).

Heres more on it from Shaykh Wikipedia

and a great documentary on the Burda by the Zaytuna Institute:

It truly is the most popular work of poetry in the world as it has been translated and/or sung into Persian, Urdu, Turkish, Berber, Punjabi, English, French, German, and other languages.

    Heres an example:

Very interesting. It seems to be a positive thing to do; gathering up to recite the Qur’an, and poetry with positive spiritual meaning. Looks fun )

    hey, Assalamo Alykom.
    here’s The Burdah in Arabic.

My fav is the one Morroacan Munshedeen did.

Abdul Hakim Murad is a sell out. He attacks other Musilms, defames scholars, and spreads a nationalist type of thought that can only spread greater pain and strife amongsts the Musilms. WAKE UP and realize what this person is doing. Finally, reading the Burda is one thing. But, singling out a special night for it, is another. Where is the Maliki position that such dhikr is a abhored innovation. This is the strong opinion of the school and one has to wonder where is the traditionlsm now?

    Salaam

Extremely beautiful and emotional at the same time.

    Wassalaam, Sofia
