I watched it and i dont think Amanpour is a good reporter at all. Maybe im being biased, but her mode of questioning and a lot of the comments she made really made me angry. yes there are all these youth who are being drawn in and the snooker match between the cops and the muslims was good, but she seemed to be generalising a lot.
What Akhi Nawaz said about breeding hate and jihad, was so true! they can make documentries and yet he cant write music. clear double standards.
What made me even more upset was an advert shown right after about sikhism or such a faith, entitled ‘the power of faith’ and yet they keep going on about such war’s with Islam. I aint doubting that CNN’s showing of the hajj and stuff was good, but its just tiring watching so many of these sorts of programmes, negating islam in the west.
If opinions are not solicited by the networks for a few weeks those loudmouths who survive on soundbites with no following will be reduced to their actual size - negligible. Is there really a need to give a platform on news and documentary programs to elements driven by either xenophobia or zealotry? Does certain sections of media purposely seek rant-bites to attract viewers’ attention?
It is the media that retains the rants on the oxygen mask of publicity without which the rantagogues are more weak than a fish without water.
Hence, there is no wisdom in bringing people on the CNN who are unwilling and unable to offer a way out of dilemmas that we encounter and the consequences that we face?
By giving undue coverage to extremist expression, we will make the real issues hostage to militancy and mulishness.
well I watched it if only they brought better peopel to interview like sami yusuf and other British figures that give a good image. instead of that rapper why not outlandish
i saw part of it. where do they dig up these whackos????? i wish usama hasan could just be appointed to be our official muslim media rep
Gonna watch it tomorrow, but I have an idea of what it’ll cover; those new undercover tapes of UK Mosque’s.
watched it thought it was good.
