Colbert on the Factor; O’Reilly on the Report
Published by Haseeb January 19th, 2007 in Colbert Report, Entertainment, US PoliticsYes that is right, Stephen Colbert had the opportunity to both be a guest on Papa Bear’s The O’Reilly Factor, and later that night, host O’Reily as a guest on the Colbert Report.

O’Reilly on The Report:
Simply amazing!
Colbert truly has brass balls, as he didnt refrain from taking jabs against O’Reilly at every opportunity - right to his face.
When Colbert was asked on The Factor why he does his show, he replied “I want to bring your message of peace and love to a younger audience, people in their 50s and 60s, who don’t watch the show.”. lol.
And later that when O’Reilly was booed when he came on The Report, he joked that it must be Jon Stewart in the audience. Colbert wittly replied that he had a restraining order against Stewart, and that he was a “sexual predator… You have no idea what that’s like.” It could have been an innocuous joke, of course, but it sounded like an oblique reference to the sexual harassment suit that a former producer on “The O’Reilly Factor” filed against her boss in 2004 and settled out of court. [NYTimes] Oh mannn!
And that photo of O’Reilly’s “Culture Warrior” with the 30% off sticker covering his face? Priceless!

i was able to catch the colbert report one last night. at first it seems like there may not have been much, but colbert really ripped him with the sexual predator comment, and then the 30% sticker was hilarious. i wonder if papa bear even knows he’s being mocked (ever so subtley).
I hadn’t watched Colbert on The Factor before now, and I must say Colbert was much better on there than he was on his own show.
But on both shows, I was disappointed that they never really talked about any real issues. This tit-for-tat personal jabs at each other is funny and all, but O’Reilly is mocked because of his views. So it would’ve been great if Colbert got him to talk about his views about anything on there.
Still, I think Colbert came out on top on both shows, and I don’t know why Bill would even do this, did he really think he would out do Steven?
More publicity for him either way. Its not like audience will go over to the left wing after seeing Colbert.
I liked the Irish comment.
I loved the “If your and act, what am I” comment.
He pulled it off big time. They racked in nearly 1.5x more people as far as ratings are concerned on both networks. Great publicity interview because they had MSNBC’s Scarbrough talking all night and CNN as well.
Ahahaha. Has Jon commented on this on the Daily Show?
