A New America… ?

Subhanallah, this week alone, the US

- will cut it’s no-fly watch list in half
- will put an end to illegal warrantless wiretapping
- has set new rules on terror detainees at Guantanamo Bay and other US-operated facilities
- Senators and Congressman (from BOTH politcal parties) are drafting a resolution in opposition to Bush’s “surge” of troops in Iraq

Although these individual stories are not groundbreaking or anything, Inshallah, these are just the beginnings of a new direction in American history.

And oh yes, Senator Barack Obama (D) has officially formed an exploratory committe for his 2008 campaign for President.

And for the record, HAhmed.com officially endorses Senator Obama for President of the United States in 2008!

(Obama has been anti-war since the beginning, even speaking at Anti-War Rallies back in 2003 when the majority of Congress (including most Democrats) backed Bush’s lies for invasion)

“What I am opposed to is the attempt by potential hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty state, a drop in the medium income—to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone thorough the worst month since the Great Depression. That’s what I am opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war, a war based not on reason, but on passion, not on principle, but on politics.”
- Barack Obama at a rally in Chicago in November, 2003

I wonder if that had anything to do with the hajj.. because they stopped a loooot of people and I have a feeling that the vast majority of these people were cleared…

I have supported Obama from the very beginning. From the very first day I saw him at the DNC in ‘04 defending Muslim-Americans in his speech led me to tears and happiness and hope for a better tommorrow. I have been such a staunch supporter of him in every way. However, I am so confused as to who to support for the presidency in ‘08. I am leaning towards John Edwards. I think Obama may be a little too green ( aka inexperienced) to lead this Nation out of 8 years of the filthiest and most hideous lack of leadership this nation has ever experienced. I have been a staunch supporter against the war since the idea was even mentioned in public. And although John Edwards voted for it, he has publically regretted it and that is good enough for me. One less vote Democratic still wouldn’t have changed anything today. Obama was not in the Senate during this crucial vote, so I think it is unfair to say he would have voted against it. It is just too easy to say.

I love Obama to death, I just wish he would do this lil exploratory commitee and smash it and stay a full term and a half as senator. I would undoubtedly back an Obama bid in ‘12.

But guys, convince me, bc nothing more would make me happier than to vote Obama in 08 :)

Barack Obama is the man but there is no way he’s gonna win the election - America is not ready for a president that is black, or a woman for that matter..
But I still think that it’s great he might be running, good chance to get his voice out to the American people..

I think Barack Obama could potentially be a great president.

By the way, he apostasized out of Islam at a young age. Even though he found a religion thats better for him, I dont think there have been any indications from him that he dislikes islam, and he definitely understands islam more than any other previous president or presidential candidate.

You know, when the new congress was assembled I really had doubts about their efforts to change, but man was I wrong. These guys are getting things done left and right.

    C&L Reported that with in 42hours and 15minutes they have;

    January 9th - Implemented 9/11 Commission Recommendations
January 10th - Increased Minimum Wage
January 11th - Funded to Expand Stem-Cell Reseach
January 12th - Negotiated Lower Drug Costs
January 17th - Cut Interest Rates in Student Loans
January 18th - Ended Oil Subsidies and Invested In Renewable Energy

Not bad I’d say. Not bad at all.
