It is with deep regret and profound sadness that I inform you all that our all-star second baseman and first-baseman, Farhan Qureshi & Raheel Malick have chosen to exercise the unrestricted free-agency clause of their contracts. They have opted to join the Hitmen, which coincidentally is captained by none other than League Commissioner, Ammad Sheikh.

While this is a devastating loss for the 2006 SASL Defending Champions, the Softballers, we will surely find a way to recuperate from this loss and find a way to defend our titles towards winning a second title this upcoming summer insha’Allah (SWT).

“The decision was by no means easy for either of us. We’ll surely miss playing and winning alongside [the Softballers]” said Farhan Quereshi.

Raheel Malick added, “Even Jordan had to leave the Bulls and come back with the Wizards for a challenge (hopefully we wont have the same results as him).”

Both Ammad Sheikh and Usman Ghumman, the captains of the teams involved were unavailable to comment on this news. Be sure to stay tuned to HAhmed.com for the latest news.

All jokes aside, we truly will miss Farhan & Raheel. Its been a great season, and i wish them nothing but success (except against the Softballers, of course)! :)

And for memories sake…

It wasn’t an easy decision since the entire team got along so well and all the success we had. I just needed another challenge and wanted to help another group of guys get closer to the SASL Championship. I have a lot of respect for the Softballers and they’ll always be my brothers. I will enjoy the Softballers VS. Hitmen rivalry, and look forward to being in the elite “2 championships from 2 different teams” club.

Actually, I really just left for the money and I wanted to play closer to my hometown.

Ammad, aka George Steinbrenner [or Vince McMahon, lol] can buy out all the talent, and get all the all-stars he wants - but neither he, nor any1 else can buy heart.

    Hit Men: Official Response

On behalf of the Hit Men. I would like to say that we welcome Farhan and Raheel formerly of the Softballers with open arms and feel that the addition of those two players on to an already formidable Hit Men team should result in a championship InshAllah.

Realistically speaking the Hit Men finished in third place and followed the Softballers season with a great deal of respect and awe.

When the opportunity arouse to add two players of the magnitude of Farhan and Raheel, two All Stars in the SASL. It presented the Hit Men with a chance of injecting some youth, some enthusiasm, some baseball IQ, and above all two proven winners.

That was an opportunity that was too great to pass up. And with that I welcome the addition of these two players to the Hit Men.

All of the Hit Men have nothing but respect for all of the Softballers and wish them the best of luck. The most important thing about Softball is not our performance on the field but our behavior off of it. The Softballers are a class act. Now the Hit Men got a little bit classier.

Look forward to seeing and InshAllah defeating the Softballers in the finals.

Make sure you bring enough batteries for your cam… Insha’Allah (SWT) this year’s celebration is gonna run all the way to the parking lot , i wouldn’t want you , Mr. Commish, to miss it.;)

^ seems like alotta fun …n e thing like this for the sisters????????? :P

  16. 16 Farhan_Hitmen from: United States usyour flag

We can setup a sister’s Iron Chef. Insha Allah (SWT) if any sister is up for the challenge, I personally know someone who is a pretty good cook.

I’m down to be on the panel of judges.

To the Softballers…don’t worry guys, I will still bring desserts for you guys insha Allah (SWT) ;)

  17. 17 Ammad from: United States usyour flag

InshAllah it is my long term goal.

It took some time to set up Softball, and now Alhamdulilah we have Basketball has been set up as well.

Unless we begin Flag Football I think that the next step for me is to set up something for Sisters.

I know that in Syosset they have indoor tennis courts that are reserved only for sisters, they put up the huge curtains and the sisters play with out their hijabs.

Or we can set up womens Softball or Volleyball. I will need to gather a large group that is sincerely interested and is willing to put in the time and committment.

Ask some of these guys, we play through anything, and we show up week in and week out.

  18. 18 Muslimah from: United States usyour flag

OKay that sounds pretty interesting, I wud love to see a Volleyball or even dodgeball :P team lol for the sisters the question is where would all this be taking place. I think us sisters lack commitment and thats understandable. Its a bit difficult to get out of the house to ‘play’ sports. Lets see what we can do inshaAllah

  19. 19 Raheel_Hitmen from: United States usyour flag

I know many sisters who enjoy playing badminton. It doesnt require a great deal of movement, easy to learn, you can play with your hijab on (or get one of those sports-hijabs), and teams can consist of just 2 sisters.
