Blinking back tears, 10-year-old Umar Naseer was overcome with awe when he told how his mother turned “Supermom” to rescue him and his brothers and sisters from the raging fire that destroyed their Brooklyn home.

“She was never really that brave before this. Now she was acting like Supermom,” Umar said yesterday. “Before she was always worried about stuff like nutrition and all this boring stuff.

“Now she was saving our lives.”

Nabila Nazli, 38, underwent hours of skin graft surgery yesterday to treat the second- and third-degree burns she suffered in the blaze that consumed her Bensonhurst apartment early Thursday.

But all five of her children, including 4-week-old twin boys, survived the fire after Nazli herded them through the choking smoke to a front window - and then dropped them to waiting neighbors two stories below.

“My mother kissed each one of [the twins] on the head before she let them go,” Umar said. “She didn’t just drop them. She kind of leaned over and gently let them go.”

Next went his 4-year-old sister, Shamail, and then Umar himself.

Nazli and her 5-year-old daughter, Nimrah, didn’t make it out and were rescued by firefighters.

Investigators believe the 3a.m. fire was electrical in nature and may have been sparked by an overloaded outlet, an FDNY source said.

“There was this loud boom. It sounded like something exploded,” said Umar. “Then my little sister [Nimrah] started crying, ‘My back is burning!’ I started going toward her, but with each step, it got hotter and hotter and I couldn’t go anymore.”

Nazli closed the door to the front bedroom, slowing the fire down and buying her family precious seconds.

After saving the twins and Shamail, she tearfully urged her eldest child to jump out the window to neighbors holding an outstretched blanket.

“I didn’t want to, but I knew we had to,” Umar, a fifth-grader at Public School 128, said quietly. “My mom ran back for Nimrah, but she got burned trying to save her.”

Firefighters found Nazli cradling her daughter in an effort to protect her from the raging flames. Both were in critical condition at the burn unit at Jacobi Medical Center yesterday as relatives gathered to pray for their survival.

Umar, Shamail and twins Mugees and Mubeen were released from Coney Island Hospital yesterday and were to spend the night with relatives on Long Island.

“We pray to God, we pray to Allah (SWT) that [Nazli] and her beautiful child will be okay,” said Mohammed Saliem, a cousin of the boy’s father, Mohammed Naseer, who was at work as a limo driver when the fire ignited.

“She deserves to live. She did the most wonderful thing for her children,” Saliem said.

    Assalam ‘Alikum,

Subhanallah. Mothers are indeed the most amazing of creation. I really don’t know how my mom stays sane with me and my siblings. Also, if one reads Surah Luqmans Tafsir by Imaam Razi….really totally blows your mind on the status of your mother. May Allah (SWT) grant all of our mothers forgiveness, mercy and the highest levels of Paradise. Please Keep me in your du’aa. Ameen.

SubhanAllah, i read this and it made me want to cry. Such a touching story. Allah (SWT) has placed mothers in such a deserving status and this how we see them living upto it.
May Allah (SWT) grant her complete shifa. InshaAllah us sisters can grow to become like our loving and forgiving mothers.
