Congratulations to Keith Ellison on becoming the first Muslim to be elected congressman in the United States. This past Tuesday, he won Minnesota’s 5th congressional district in the House of Representatives!
Subhanallah, what a landmark for Muslims not only across the US but across the world. Inshallah he will be the first of many Muslims to gain such positions in our country. He has said that when he takes his oath of office in January, he will do so with his hand on the Quran! (Another first!)
However, the first Muslim in congress… I’m sure many Islamophobes are probably very upset by this. For example, earlier this week, Keith Ellison was a guest on Glenn Beck’s program and was asked to “prove… that [he is] not working with our enemies”. Unbelieveable :-/

This is the Fox newsification of our media, which has the most ratings out of any other news service (if you can call it that). Forget balanced coverage, just say whatever you want to get the most ratings. It tells you something about American society when Fox news just destroys all the other news services in this country in ratings, I cant remember what the number is but CNN, Headline, MSNBC, etc. can’t even get close to Fox’s ratings. Sad.

Glenn Beck is a dick. Are you sure Ellison will be sworn in with his hand on the Koran though?
I met Ellison last October 5 at an anti-war rally in Minneapolis. He’s a very nice guy and he’s very anti-war too.

Looks like the Jewish community is supporting Mr. Ellison using the Quran when he swears in.
