Student Tazed in Library for failing to show ID (Viewer Discretion Advised)
Published by Haseeb November 16th, 2006 in Current NewsSource: MujahideenRyder, others
Mostafa Tabatabainejad, a 23 year old UCLA Student, was repeatedly tazed with a gun after he was unable to produce a university ID at his library.
What happend to him is pathetic to say the least. There is no justification for the UCPD to exert that much aggression towards a student, despite his resistance. The university claims that the UCPD was conducting a random search of ID’s however, it is not a far fetched idea that Tabatabainejad was targeted because of his race and religion.
We’ve seen this happen far too many times to just sit here and ignore the reality that Muslims face. The Police claim that the student refused to comply with their orders and showed restraint when being asked to leave. Be that as it may, that by no means gives them the right to taze the student multiple times. Unbelieveable!!!
Subhanallah :-/

Ya, it’s disgusting … I did a little research in the law and he definately has a case. (Duh Danya!) But on counts only a law student would know
Oh, and uloo says he forgives you
wow, these guys put on a uniform and empower themeselves with a freakin taser gun. Not only do they use it inappropriately, they keep threatening to use it, even against other students expressing outrage over incident. All over a student ID. WOW.
This is beyond wrong. No cop is justified, nonetheless a university cop for using a taser gun against someone who didn’t have their ID!!!
However, that being said. was it really because the guy was an Iranian??? Sure Pakis can spot an Iranian in a crowd of Afghanis ( hypothetical but u kno what I mean) So was it only becuase the guy was brown he was spotted as a terrorist by whites?? Perhaps he looked hispanic to the police? Is this really a matter of racial profiling? THe name clearly gives it away that he is Iranian, but the cops didn’t know that because he didn’t have ID??
That’s quite upsetting. God knows best if the officers were racist or felt they had to drag that scary Muslim student out of the library. I’ve seen too many Taser videos, why don’t those guards test it on themselves before they use it to stun people and demand they immediately stand up and walk. Subhan Allah
.
asalamualiakum,
This low level “Security” guards seemingly provoked the whole thing. They got physical and they will probably get fired for that. At least in NY, you got a lot of, excuse my language, meathead security guards/cops we may do things like this. It is not everyone, but there at enough that go around. This was like a NY High School. It is sad.
Back off the racial profiling claim untill more evidence comes out. Let the law takes it’s course.
I don’t want to say right off the bat that this was racist, but I think we can all agree there was injustice, and no one should have to suffer for it, especially in this country. He surely has a case and no doubt that he will win.
As salamu ‘alaikum,
I may be mistaken, but I think that the police on the UCLA campus are actually police officers not private security guards.
that was a horrific video, disclaimer video discretion advised was rightly so. I had to mute the volume because it was horrible. Poor kid, is he okay now?
my God, what’s next in targeting muslims? it was truly pathetic, it was not worth over a dumb I.D and if he was really a student there.
I have been deeply disturbed by this video.
i found the video quite disturbing..
regardless of whether the student was muslim or not, resisting or not, such excessive use (rather abuse) of their power was not justified.
He should have showed his ID to begin with. Iranians dont care about the deen anyway, why is CAIR getting involved?
Ali, that was such a general statement. You dont know the level of Iman of the bro, and this has NOTHING to do with his level of Iman. An act of INjustice is WRONG.
The video was incredibly disturbing to watch, him screaming and crying out in pain is unbearable to hear.
well said Muslimah
Actually, several sources state that Tabatabainejad is in fact Baha’i, and not Muslim.
Either way, it really doesn’t matter. It was more than unjust and I hope he wins his court case. I’m absolutely infuriated over the issue. I have so little faith in the American law enforcement. People here know next to nothing about civil rights.
It doesnt matter whether he is muslim or not. If CAIR is involved then that is good because CAIR should show that they care for civil rights and human rights for all people. If he is not muslim and Muslims are speaking out on his behalf even better. That was a very disgusting and disturbing video and for us living in America in apeaceful environment to watch or hear that is really too much.
I think some people need to learn when to say and what to say or not say anyting at all. Please keep your stupidity to yourself, thank you.
oh he is B’hai only according to Frontpagemag, a neoconservative group. What’d they know, they lie about everything and probably about this as well. As if it matters what he is or not. I think Muslims are at the forefront for defending his rights and should be so.
