Kareem Salama- Generous Peace
Published by Haseeb October 1st, 2006 in Kareem Salama, Music
Subhanallah. This brother’s voice is amazing!
I initially wrote a post about Kareem Salama’s debut CD a couple of weeks ago. Now after ordering the CD and listening to it several times, I can’t stop listening to it.
The music is exceptionally well produced and the lyrics are very profoundly meaningful. It by no means is an “Islamic Album”, but the songs are about positive themes and reflect issues such as war, quest for paradise, realizing the value of life, remaining positive and hopeful amidst tribulations and troubling times, praising our mothers and wives, etc. With the permission of Kareem Salama himself, here are excerpts from three of my favorite songs from Generous Peace.
Get Busy Living

…When I pass I dont wanna leave a life of regret
So I give rise to change today by trying not to forget
That pleasures do pass and sunrises end
and stars do fade away
But its a love and its virtue and honor and truth
that remain for all days.
And I believe tonight is the night that I decide
That i get busy living and I get ready to die
So that when the fateful day does come
when Im six feet in the ground
The poor and the weak and the orphans and meek
will miss having me around
I want that final breath to be the sweetest of all
And it will be with certainty if I answer that call
To help all those in need and decipher the meaning of life
Cause the seekers of truth, they fear not death
any more than they fear life…
Baby I’m A Soldier

… Well the battle raged and shots rang out
the two men fell to the ground
And they looked into the eyes of each other
and were shocked at what they found
One man saw the mother of the other in the young man’s eyes
And the other man saw the crying and screams
of the other man’s beloved wife
And the two men stared across that smoky field and whispered to each other
Maybe you werent that demon they said
maybe you were really my brother
But Im glad were passing cause I dont think that I could forgive myself
for fighting you but maybe God Will and we can live together in bliss…
Hold On

The tear drops fall from his eyes that night,
too much of a man to be crying in plain sight.
Finds himself at the beginning again
cant understand why he cant break this sin
I dont know who said that it was easy
to conquer the world that exists inside of me
My lights are dim and the roads are dark
but the night’s always darkest right before dawn
So hold in to this moment cause it might just be what you need
And you know that youre growing
when you find yourself down on your knees.
Its the trails of life, its the rain and the night
that makes you more than just your dreams…
And those are just short excerpts of three songs. So what are you waiting for? Buy it now! It has the hahmed.com seal of approval! This CD makes a great EID Gift!!!

Thank you for the post and the support. I’m glad you enjoyed the CD. And again, great blog…I can’t tell you how much I loved the post about UMMA Community Clinic!

Salman Ahmad Younas… Country Music Fan??
WHO KNEW?!?!? :dizzy:
Salamu `Alaykum
Subhanallah
Im not much of a music person. Actually, I side with the opinion that it is haram, except use of the duff ofcourse.
But, I still maintain that it is an issue of difference and no one can be condemned. Sidi Kareem’s music will, hopefully, be an inspiration for everyone to seek out the true music that is the dhikr of Allah
present deep within our hearts.
And yes, I do like the album… but I wont be listening to it for long : ) It;s against my personal i`tiqad (belief) on the issue and taking dispensations sint the way of a Sufi! Well… maybe once in a while, for a short duration.
Wasalam
Salman
this is ridiculous….but guess who just bought it hahaha
i did.
im not too crazy about the genre but mashallah this brother has an amazing voice you have to listen…if you like the lyrics and the type of messeges etc try listening to The Sound of Reason (www.thesoundofreason.com) i can’t stop listening to them and mashallah their voices are absolutly awesome, they remind me a little bit of outlandish
salam
aah, great voice and great album. my favourite songs have to be Prayers at Night and Get Busy Living.
SubhanAllah!!!MashaAllah amazing voice Kareem brother. I simply loved all your songs. Keep up the good work, although music has different opinions, but with such nice and meaningful lyrics and a stunning voice, it’s an inspiration for everyone.
Wa’salam.
Ahmad.
mashAllah nice to see a brother going for a different genre.
InshaAllah it will help reach others.
However I dont think Ill be listening to it myself. I prefer nasheeds in their most basic form. Completely voice or with the duff. Nothing like the simplicity.
Yet then again theres nothing better than the recitation of the Holy Quran to listen to.
Walaykum as salaam
Khadija
I’m so in love with country music.
