For now, I just am very grateful for our overwhelming victory today (We beat the shock in Game 1 9-3 and in Game 2 6-5). After a long grueling season plagued with injuries; 14 weeks of regular season action, 3 weeks of playoffs, spread over 6 months it is very rewarding to know that our team has been the best and we are the champions! And on this momentous day, it was only fitting that our captain, Usman Arshad Ghumman, was awarded the MVP of the Finals.
All Praise is Most Certainly Due to God!
How do I feel? Grateful!
First and foremost, (of course) I want to thank God for allowing us to play softball every sunday for the past 6 months (minus rained out weeks). We truly are very blessed to be able to play a sport we love every week in such a great setting with so many other great brothers. We are also blessed to play well enough to be the champions of this great competitive league with so much talent! Alhamdulillah!
I want to thank the SHOCK for a great Finals! Although we did sweep them (and beat them 5-6 times this summer overall), the games were very fun and exciting, as they have always been this year. Especially Solyman’s chanting and yelling - it really got us going, and in the 2nd game in particular we were as loud as ever. Solyman, if ur reading this, extra props to u, u played a great game!
I want to thank OUR FANS for their support. And yes, we do have fans. Alhamdulillah several of our fans came through today to cheer us on - and it really did help! So Amir, Salman, Omair, Mohsin, Imran, Haroon (even though u were also cheering for the Shock), Farhan’s Wife, and Zeeshan’s relatives. Your cheering and support was REALLY appreciated. Even though the Shock had more than twice as many fans (relatives, spouses, children) you guys were loud and ur cheers really impacted our performance :). I also want to thank all the fans that couldnt make it out to today’s game. We do appreciate your love and support as well
I want to thank every1 else in the league, All the other teams, and especially the commish, Ammad, for the league itself, and a great season. We played 34 great games this year against 7 other competitive teams (well, i should say 6 competitive teams, sorry lions). The league was organized exceptionally well and grew drastically from its humble beginnings last year. Inshallah its going to get even bigger and better and we look forward to defending our championship!
And finally, I want to thank my teamates. I love you all very much, and despite how well I already knew many of you, this team brought us even closer together, and I sincerely am very grateful for that.
