Softballers 15-5 (2nd Place in SASL)
With the red-hot Hustlaz coming off 4 straight wins, we knew we were up for a good game against the Hustlaz. However, this week the Hustlaz were short a few players (Umar and Ufroz were in Florida, Abdullah came late) and didnt have enough men to fill the field (they played without a catcher). We started off with a bang in the first inning. In fact, our captain, Usman Ghumman, led off the game with a solo HR. See video here:
Our lead only grew further after that, and although the Hustlaz scored 6 runs on us, we scored 16 to win the game 16-6.
In game 2, we played Damage Inc (who just came off defeating the Hitmen). With the same lineup as our previous game, Usman led of this game as well… however the result from this bat wasnt nearly as great:
Our poor captain injured his ankle which was severely bruised. He had to sit out for the game. His current status is DTD (Day to Day) and has NOT yet been placed on the DL (Disabled List). We’ll see how his ankle progresses. Please make dua for our captain!
Anyways, after the injury the game went on. And what a competitive game it was. After several lead changes, and tie-ups, in the end Damage Inc prevailed. Their powerful offense combined with our lackluster defense and base-running mishaps led to a Damage Inc victory against the Softballers. Down 7-4 in the bottom of the 7th, we were only able to manufacture 2 clutch runs before our third out. The final score: Damage 7, Softballers 6.
And yes, Shock did win both of their games, and Shock now holds sole posession of first place in the SASL.
New York Mets 53-36 (1st Place in NL East)
The first half of the baseball season is finally over, and the Mets remain atop not only the NL East, but the entire National League with a 53-36 Record. After a couple of tough losses against Florida this weekend, the Mets made an impressive come from behind victory capped off by a 3-run HR by David Wright. Speaking of Wright HRs, David Wright will be appearing in the HR Derby tonight at 8pm. I believe he chose fellow Mets All-Star starter, Paul Lo Duca to be his pitcher for the derby. Although an underdog, I will not be surprised if Wright wins the derby tomorrow evening. As I have been telling you guys for over two years, this kid has got alot of talent.
