Softballers 14-4 (1st Place in SASL)
The Softballers continued their winning ways this week with wins against Dynasty and The Lions.
In Game 1, after going up early 3-0, Dynasty fought back and took the lead 5-3, which they would go on to hold until the bottom of the 6th. During the middle of the 6th, Captain Usman Ghumman gave an emotional speech which really impacted our team. So at the bottom of the inning The Softballers scored 4 runs to regain the lead 7-3, which would end up being the final score. A great come from behind victory against one of the league’s top teams.
In Game 2, we defeated the Lions 12-0. This was the first game all season where Usman played his former position, SS; as our star slugger Zeeshan was given the game off. Good defense, good offense (featuring a 2-run HR hit by Nadeem) both led to the easy victory.
Next week we face the red hot Hustlaz (are coming off a 4-game winning streak) and Damage Inc.
When will the softballers finally regain sole posession of 1st place? Only time will tell.
New York Mets 48-33 (1st Place in NL East)
This past week has sucked for the Mets. After getting swept in Boston, and losing 2 out of 3 in the Bronx, things dont look good in Queens, NY. Nonetheless Boston has been playing some great baseball as of late, and Pedro and Soler didnt have their stuff against the Bronx Bombers. And it is a long season. Over 162 games, it is inevitable that even the greatest of teams will go through some down times.
Instead of focusing on this past week, Im gonna rather mention the accomplishments so far for this young team about half way through the season. (Check out my preseason predictions here, it looks like I may have made many corred predictions) We still hold an 11 game lead over the rest of the competition in the (albeit lackluster) NL East. And we also have 6 (maybe 7) all-stars this year!.
Mets All-Star starters include David Wright (3B), Jose Reyes (SS), Paul Lo Duca (C), and Carlos Beltran (OF). All-Star pitchers include Tom Glavine & Pedro Martinez. Closer Billy Wagner is currently on the “Final All-Star Vote Ballot”, in which fans can vote in the final player on the NL and AL All-star games. I was surprised that Carlos Delgado didnt make it. And on top of the allstars, David Wright will be making his first ever Home Run Derby Appearance this year. All in all, it should be a great allstar weekend next week!

we are in first place. we have the tie-break vs. Shock. Haseeb was great on the basepads, especially taking bases when the other team wasn’t looking.
