Driving in Pakistan/India
Published by Haseeb April 21st, 2006 in EntertainmentSulayman sent me this earlier… and this is NORMAL traffic in india/pakistan, lol
I remember last winter when I went to Pakistan, i was actually scared of driving there. Especially in Peshawar. Drivers are crazy. First of all, no one has a license, and any1 can drive. Secondly, there are no concepts of lanes. Even newer roads, which have white lane markings drawn in, are completely ignored by drivers. I remember 3 lane roads being filled with 5 actual lanes of traffic, and people driving across the road without any recognition of the white lanes drawn on the ground.
And as I was telling Sulayman earlier this week, no wonder desis make such great taxi drivers!

hhaha thats hilarious i dont remember it being THAT bad tho lol.
Ahaha nice. Great to see so many motorcyclists and pedestrians nonchalantly cross a road as they’re inches from being side-swiped by a rickshaw.
Though I was disappointed not to see a jam packed bus with like 20 people hanging off of it.
Lol and yes, desis do make the best cabbies. Damn straight.
Sidenote: My Sikh friend’s cousin has a 10 second part in Spiderman 3. He plays a cabdriver.
I heard the middle east is similar…from someone from egypt and from someone who lived in saudi.
Actually Danya had a flash video about that kinda stuff about some European country (italy?) but we decided it also applied to the middle east. Maybe she could link to it here. Or did she post it on her site? cant remember now.
who need traffic lights when you have such skilled drivers
hehe, funny
Hilarious! What’s worse is that most of these people probably dont even have a license.
it is something like art to watsch this viedo. i am still laughing
y r most of the cars white?
rofl>>>>>that is too true>>>>some roads are worse than that>>>>>they have animals and all sorts crossing in random places
you have 14-15 year old kids driving motorbikes in pakistan, no one wears their seat belts or helmets, they dont obey traffic lights, and they overtake by horning and pushing their way through- i would never drive in pakisatn, its a death wish
That is seriously scary. I’ve had my share of bad driving experiences, so I can honestly say I would never be able to drive in Paki. I can believe the video posted above being the situation as well… once my cousin ran over some guys foot while reversing.
in guyana, add all that, plus rum, loud soca/reggae music and GANJA
no wonder I love guyana.
this brings to mind a picture of a beehive - organized chaos. sweet!
you are so true about…
i know i used to live in pak few years back but now i cant think of driving there. Itz like to be at death’s door.
Anywayz you got really interesting blog.

guyana babuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
i remember being driven around pak..at the back of one of those things known as a ‘caarey?’ knocked my head on the metal bout 3 times…and people wonder why im wierd!
They dont have accidents, because these types of roads are so bad no one can drive faster than 25-30 MPH on them so keep that in mind.
Also when you click on the Video.. on the you tube page it says.. Driving in India.. I feel gipped… you made it out to be pakistan..
lol i didnt realise it was that bad……….. although i do remember praying 4 my life!
India/Pakistan - whatever, same thing….
lol jk
pakistan zindabad!
jk again
and i thought where i come from had bad traffic…salam=)
ORGANISED CHAOS as my mum says.
I remember driving in India, and had just passed my test back in England, it was a whole new driver’s code.
The most hazardous things are the major roads (so called highways/motorways). Big tata trucks overtaking other big trucks, no lights (LOL the lights are painted), and its ok to overtake even when there is an oncoming car coming towards you.
I have to admit as blooming dangerous it was, you can’t help feeling hyped and enjoy the challenge when driving on these roads.
But still v. lethal
