Muhammad (saw): Mercy to Humanity
Published by Haseeb February 6th, 2006 in Current News, Islam“You do not do evil to those who do evil to you, but you deal with them with forgiveness and kindness.” - The Prophet Muhammad
I am just outraged at the violent response in many parts of the world in response to the whole cartoon fiasco. Do these people setting buildings ablaze and warranting death threats actually believe this is what the Prophet Muhammad
would have wanted us to do??? Do these people think this is pleasing to Allah
??? Subhanallah!… :-/
Shaykh Hamza and Imam Zaid recently gave a short talk on MeccaOne Radio on Muhammad : Mercy to Humanity, in light of the recent news of the cartoon and its response. Listen to it here
Its actually a really enlightening and entertaining talk. Shaykh Hamza and Imam Zaid speak on the impact and influence the prophet has on their lives, their relationship with their parents, the burdah, music (and its powerful role in society and on the psyche/soul), Shaykh Hamza asking us “not to dis the dogs” (lol), and the future of the Zaytuna Institute, among other interesting topics.

Salam,
thats a really nice version of the burdah, there are so many, theyre all beautiful.
u know what i am so “aaargh!” at how certain pple have decided to “speak out” and defend the honour of the Prophet (saw).
the first demo that happened here was by a group of muslims shouting “DENMARK GO TO HELL!!”, carrying placards saying “BEHEAD THOSE WHO SLANDER THE PROPHET”, “KILL THE KUFFAR!”.
WHAT THE FLIP?!!
the BBC were sure to document on this demo properly though, even interviewing the dude from Al Muhajirun etc. i havent yet seen any coverage of the peaceful demo that happnd the next day
the world is really gonna believe us now when we say “we condem violence and are peaceful people etc”
WHY do we keep doing this?WHY?!
YES we are angered and hurt by whats happened-but burning dwn embassies, threatening and the like does NOT help! it just fuels and gives ammunition to those who hate islam;gives them more of an excuse to bring out more anti-islam laws etc. and then the muslims react again-its a vicious cycle. you know that saying..”u made ur bed, now u gotta lie in it..” something like that.
were giving them *too* much attention-its what they want. WAKE UP pple!
speak out peacefully, through the right channels, boycott if u wish and hit em where it hurts(the pocket) just dont act like “crazy, angry lunatics”.
also, i think the whole reason why pple are outraged is not *only* because some non-muslim drew pictures of the prophet (saw)- its the *way* he depicted the Prophet e.g as a terrorist etc. because pple, including muslims themselves have been drawing images of the Prophet since time-(which is something i and the majority of muslims dont agree with)-just look at persion, indian, turkish art.
as with everything else in our lives, we refer to the sunnah of the Beloved (saw)…are such acts that some muslims have committed from the sunnah??
subhanallah indeed!!
ditto
I like the song!
Hehe
Ya I like Muhammad Husayan. I wanna buy his cd(s) but its not available over here, therefore I just burned what I had onto a cd.
thanks for this!
Salam Ahmed,
Sure, and I completely agree with you, muslims should not do evil to others, but should forgive them. It’s really a shame what’s happening in these days…
Concerning the burdah, the singers are moroccan (as me
). I didn’t know this version of this one put on your blog. It’s really good.
To finish, did you hear about that fish in england wish it seems that you can see in arabic the word “Allah
” in one side and “Muhammad” in the other?? It is reported in the Aljazeera site… I don’t know how we should deal with this kind of thinks… (in the case it is true !)
Here is the link (the article is in arabic) :

Just for all those who liked this version of the burda you can listen to the whole thing on http://www.sparklywater.co.uk. and for those who are interested in the burda by the moroccan fez singers, the one translated by Hamza Yusuf, you can listen to some short clips on http://www.sandala.co.uk and also on the zaytuna website they have a documentary about the burda and how Hamza Yusuf when about putting together and such. Its very interesting.
fill our hearts with iman, taqwa and sincere love for our Prophet Muhammed
and allow us to follow his example. Ameen.
May Allah
Assalamu Alaikum
السلام عليكم و رحمة الله تعالى و بركاته

have a nice day all, oua salam
Oh man, I was initially so upset about the cartoons - moreso about European narrowmindedness and secular fanaticism - but now I’m even more upset about the Muslim response. I am almost embarrassed to be a Muslim - not in terms of my deen but in terms of being identified with “Muslims” as a sociological grouping, or something to that effect. Khayr, I know that’s not right though. May Allah
guide and forgive the people who drew the cartoon - and may Allah
(swt) turn all of our hearts - all Muslims around the world - to Him and the ways and character of our beloved Prophet (saw), ameen.
Ditto #2
Assalamu Alaikum
No problem Brother M’hammed.
Assalamu Alaikum
I didn’t know where else to place this informative article:
Danish paper rejected Jesus cartoons
Gwladys Fouché and agencies
Monday February 6, 2006
MediaGuardian.co.uk
Jyllands-Posten, the Danish newspaper that first published the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad
that have caused a storm of protest throughout the Islamic world, refused to run drawings lampooning Jesus Christ, it has emerged today.
The Danish daily turned down the cartoons of Christ three years ago, on the grounds that they could be offensive to readers and were not funny.
In April 2003, Danish illustrator Christoffer Zieler submitted a series of unsolicited cartoons dealing with the resurrection of Christ to Jyllands-Posten.
Zieler received an email back from the paper’s Sunday editor, Jens Kaiser, which said: “I don’t think Jyllands-Posten’s readers will enjoy the drawings. As a matter of fact, I think that they will provoke an outcry. Therefore, I will not use them.”
The illustrator told the Norwegian daily Dagbladet, which saw the email: “I see the cartoons as an innocent joke, of the type that my Christian grandfather would enjoy.”
“I showed them to a few pastors and they thought they were funny.”
He said that he felt Jyllands-Posten rated the feelings of its Christian readers higher than that of its Muslim readers.
But the Jyllands-Posten editor in question, Mr Kaiser, told MediaGuardian.co.uk that the case was “ridiculous to bring forward now. It has nothing to do with the Muhammad cartoons.
“In the Muhammad drawings case, we asked the illustrators to do it. I did not ask for these cartoons. That’s the difference,” he said.
“The illustrator thought his cartoons were funny. I did not think so. It would offend some readers, not much but some.”
The decision smacks of “double-standards”, said Ahmed Akkari, spokesman for the Danish-based European Committee for Prophet Honouring, the umbrella group that represents 27 Muslim organisations that are campaigning for a full apology from Jyllands-Posten.
“How can Jyllands-Posten distinguish the two cases? Surely they must understand,” Mr Akkari added.
Meanwhile, the editor of a Malaysian newspaper resigned over the weekend after printing one of the Muhammad cartoons that have unleashed a storm of protest across the Islamic world.
Malaysia’s Sunday Tribune, based in the remote state of Sarawak, on Borneo island, ran one of the Danish cartoons on Saturday. It is unclear which one of the 12 drawings was reprinted.
Printed on page 12 of the paper, the cartoon illustrated an article about the lack of impact of the controversy in Malaysia, a country with a majority Muslim population.
The newspaper apologised and expressed “profound regret over the unauthorised publication”, in a front page statement on Sunday.
“Our internal inquiry revealed that the editor on duty, who was responsible for the same publication, had done it all alone by himself without authority in compliance with the prescribed procedures as required for such news,” the statement said.
The editor, who has not been named, regretted his mistake, apologised and tendered his resignation, according to the statement.
