These are complete notes from a student who attended one of these sessions in the past. Its supposed to be good.
(Note: These are only the interpretation of the note-takers understanding of the instructors notes.)
You can take this class for yourself in the tri-state area as it is being offered in New Jersey starting Feb. 10th. It is advertised as “The Fiqh of Love: Marriage in Islam, or all you wanted to know about marriage but never asked is coming to NJ on february 10th.”
I personally dont know much about The Al-Maghrib Institute, or the instructors, but I have heard great things about it. I have heard of SHaykh Muhammad Al-Shareef (Al-Maghrib’s founder) at various conferences, and he is amazing, mashallah.

I don’t see notes
THank you soo much Br. Haseeb, may Allah
reward you. I just saw the notes and they are real real deep. I mean, I think by taking this class, in sha Allah
, people in the tri-state area will benefit much and will gain much understanding of spouses and marriage and hopefully decrease the divorce rates(by understanding responsiblity and obligations, etc).
So, who is planning on taking the class?
But aren’t they Salafi and “methodologically divergent” (to use Sidi Faraz’s term) from the way and understanding of Sunni Islam as taught by the reliable scholars of the deen?
well, if that is the propaganda against them,
but in this class, I heard they are using classical scholars and texts, so in shaa Allaah it should’nt be bad.
I dont know if they are salafi, or what not. But it shouldnt matter, as long as what they are teaching is sound and correct and of valid opinions based on sound traditional classical scholars and texts, it is indeed worth learning!
Wa Allahualim, maybe u should ask sunnipath or other scholars like Shaykh Faraz about it. We most certainly shouldnt argue amongst oursleves regarding something like this!
they are salafi. i’ve taken the Light of Guidance with AlMaghrib, and gunna take Fiqh of Love.
my Light of Guidance notes are here, warning its strictly salafi aqeedah:

damn, I hate you MR(jk)
That particular class you took was salafee
but they dont orient themselves towards salafees.
Plus the fiqh of Love is more sufish, i mean comone, read the Ring of Dove and other books.
And yes the Fiqh of Love is based on classical texts.
Assalamu Alaikum
There’s a great book called ” The Etiquette of Seeking Knowledge” by Shaykh Bakr Aboo Zayd and translated by Abu ‘ Abdillah Murad ibn Hilmi Ash-Shuweikh. It’s a short book but it is very informative. It talks about the correct way of seeking knowledge. I like this book because the shaykh refers to the books that he gets the information from. Some are by Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn al Qayyim, An Nawawee, As- Zarnoojee ( Instruction of the Student another good book and the forward is by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf) and many other well known shuyukh.
So if anyone is interested in seeking knowledge its a good book to read.
(swt) increase us all in beneficial knowledge. Ameen.
May Allah
