It doesnt matter if you are celebrating it on Tuesday or Wednesday (the right day! - mazak, i kid!; just follow ur communities!!!). Enjoy the day with ur family and the rest of your communities! This is our most joyous holiday of the year and I would like wish you and your families all a very blessed, festive, and joyous Eid!

For some sunnahs on eid, including how to perform Eid Prayer click here for the post I wrote last Eid. Shaykh Faraz Rabbani has linked Sunnipath Eid Fiqh responses on his blog from Sunnipath earlier today here. And Imam Zaid Shakir, has written a new article on The Sunnah of Sacrificing on the Zaytuna Website.

And finally, this is our biggest holiday. Im sure many of us still have christmas music stuck in our heads being blasted everywhere (radio, malls, schools, elevators, etc.), so I think its only fair that now I share some Eid Music (and lyrics to sing along! lol).

Sami Yusuf - Eid Song
Music Version -
Percussion Version -

Let us rejoice indeed
For this is the day of Eid

CHORUS:
La ilaha illallah
Muhammad rasulallah
La ilaha illallah
Muhammad rasulallah
‘Alayhi salatullah
‘Alayhi salatullah

Children are wearing new clothes
Bright colours fill the streets
Their faces full of laughter
Their pockets full of sweets
Let us rejoice indeed
For this is the day of Eid

CHORUS

Mosques are full of worshippers
in rows straight and neat
Their Lord they remember,
His name they repeat

Their hands are raised to the sky
They supplicate and plead
On this blessed day
Forgive us they entreat
Let us rejoice indeed
For this is the day of Eid

CHORUS

People are giving charity
And helping those in need
In giving they’re competing
Today there is no greed
Let us rejoice indeed
For this is the day of Eid

CHORUS

Enemies embracing each other
All hatred is buried
Everyone is celebrating
Greeting everyone they meet
Let us rejoice indeed
For this is the day of Eid

Oh Eid! (Ya Eid)
Oh Eid! you are a gift from our creator God
You excite in us the joy of eager
You bring us together with our relatives and friends
You overwhelm us with mercy like a streaming well
It’s our habit to visit people so kindly
No hatred, no bitter feeling, no arrogance at all
Getting up by your greatening the generous and every disobedient
And the couple may return hugging
The disputers may reconcile
And the children joy, many fly into the horizon!
Overwhelmed by happiness at home and the markets
The children and the adult are in such a race
Joyful with what is like the kohl in the eyes
Seizing a tasty opportunity
May Allah (SWT) maintain their happiness
And make us always meet
Do not separate us as separation is bitter

    Duas for Eid:

    Approach your Imam before Eid Salat and hand him a couple of requests based on the following Duas so he can lead all in Dua;

2.Ya Allah (SWT), open the hearts of our neighbors towards us.
3.Ya Allah (SWT), unite the Muslims in the USA and the world to serve Allah (SWT)’s creation to please Him.
4.Ya Allah (SWT), give Sabr (patience) and freedom to the innocent prisoners and guide those who are at fault.
5.Ya Allah (SWT), You take care of the oppressed. Please help the oppressed in Palestine, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Iraq, India, Chechnya and other parts of the world.

Just to let you all know, I celebrated Eid on tuesday in USA, my spouse on wednesday (overseas), it doesnt matter. I think young kids get caught up in why we dont celebrate Eid the same days, etc. It is important to realize that we are just celebrating more days :) right?
