Thats right, NYC is SHUT DOWN, no subway and no bus! The Transit Workers Union called for a strike this morning inconveniencing over 7,000,000 commuters, students, tourists, practically every1 in the city! Its already a really chilly day (around 20 degrees with wind chills in the single digits), leaving many waking up this morning rushing to find alternative ways to get to work and school. Many students have final exams today too! I just saw on the news some students walking across the Brooklyn Bridge to school. Im sure most people thought this strike would be avoided, a
s the TWU backed up from Friday’s planned strike. But this time, we actually do have a strike! And for the record, I do support the strike. Its about time the working class stood up to the big corporations and companies who think they run everything and screw over employees with lackluster health coverage, low wages, and an insufficient retirement pland. But then again, millions of workers struggling to get by with a days pays now have to struggle by taking an overpriced cab, or waiting 3-4 hours on line for a LIRR or MTA train. Thank God I live right across the street from school and dont have to take the train/bus…
I cant imagine what I wouldve done if this happened way back when i used to take the train to high school everyday. On second thought, given the timing, Id prolly just start my vacation early.

Good luck and especially patience to all those who live in NY.
It’s time to partyyyyyyyyyyy
“Its about time the working class stood up to the big corporations and companies who think they run everything and screw over employees with lackluster health coverage, low wages, and an insufficient retirement pland”
A- How many working class do you know who get 100% health coverage and are also asking for a 25% increase in wages over the next 3 years??? 25% Thats right. The city offered 10% which is still alot over 3 years and they want 25%.
B- Also you mindless hippy, once the people you support so much get their pay raise…do you know which “corporations and companies” will be paying for those incredible healthcare benefits and that whopping salary? Did you forget that this is the MTA, not Enron? The ‘corporation’ they are trying to squeeze for more money are the people of NYC who will be paying far greater fares (imagine $5 one way fares within the next 3 or 4 years).
C- This strike does not inconvenience over 7,000,000 people. It inconveniences over 7,000,000 separate fares, most of which consist of 2 way riders so its actually inconveniencing over 3,500,000 people.
it kinda s uks but wat can u do
…one love babbyyyyyy………brozzzzansizz….I pray to god that this is a joke and your not serious b/c if you are, an israeli tank needs to roll on top of you
