This winter break (week between christmas and new years), the 4th annual Reviving the Islamic Spirit Convention/Concert/Camp will be held in Toronto, Canada. Ive never previously attended this conference, but im really thinking of going this year. It looks AWESOME. It features a 3 day conference featuring some of the greatest scholars from the WORLD today including:

Following the 3 day conference, there will be a concert featuring none other than Sami Yusuf as well as other Muslim singers/groups. (unfortunately not Outlandish though). Im sure this concert alone will be attracting many people from across the continent.
And to conclude the week there will be a 3 day Knowledge retreat featuring Imam Zaid Shakir, Dr. Tareq Suwaidan and Tamzid’s favorite, Shaykh Abdal Hakim Jackson. I really wanted to go to ALIM cuz of him alone but now that hes coming here as well, im sooo tempted.

Are any of you guys thinking of going? Do you guys have any further info on the conference/camp/concert, or any advice regarding cheap lodging/travel in and to toronto, etc? Any comments will be greatly appreciated!

I’m going cuz i live here in Toronto. This conference is really amazing, they’ve been having every year for the past 3 or 4 years. If any of you can make the trip it is sooo worth it. Its not everyday that these great scholars are in one place, and mashallah it is a VERY reviving experience. I cant wait !

Yes, the trailer is awsome. I was gettin pumped just watching it. Whoever put that together did a great job. Voiding last-minute change of plans, I plan to attend this conference and perhaps even the concert. Haseeb, I forgot to call you. My bad.

The trailer looks great, i so wish i lived in canada, i would love to be able to go.
inshallah those that do go, will have a wonderful time, and inshallah they will learn some great things that will better their lives inshallah and the lives of our ummah inshallah.
Inshallah I will be there supporting Native Deen http://www.nativedeen.com they are pretty good they performed with Yusef Islam in turkey. May Allah
reward them for the music they help to motivate young Muslims with.

! but for those planning to fly… you minus well start planning to sell your kidney on the black market b/c that’s what it costs to fly to canada on the day after christmas! 
from LaGuardia to Pearson International it’s $305/person/round trip… cheapest I could find.
oh and fyi - for those who are not native canadians.. i was doing some research on total cost.. obviously… the trade centre where the event’s being held and king west (the hotel accommodations they posted online) are nowhere near the airport. free shuttle is provided btwn. king west and the national trade centre. however, it’s a $45 cab fare (for a group of 4) from the airport to king west or $14.95/person public shuttle which drops you 3 blocks away from king west. annnnnnnd don’t forget the $40 conf. cost and the $125/rm king west cost. lol

Salaam I have not posted on this site before, but I thought I would cuz of the conference. I live in GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and am going to the conference. I have gone to all the previous ones and I have to say that out of all the conferences that are held in North America this is the best one by far. ICNA, ISNA, MAC… they don’t even compare. The speakers are amazing, I personally love Tareq Suwaidan’s lectures, so for those of you that will be able to make it don’t miss his lecture. Well hope you all can make it!

GO TO RIS. i’ve been going every year since its started since i live in Toronto and it’s really an imaan booster. It may not change ur life but it definitely revives the islamic spirit. =)

I have attended the convention this year as well as in the past and mashallah i have never i feel as though it has definitely revived my spirit and I never regret going. Its extremely rare to have such knowledgeable individuals which have studied islam for years, in one place at one time. Its and unforgettable experiance, and for those who missed it this year b/c they lived to far, had work etc, im telling you, this is one thing you will NEVER REGRET ..so inshallah you will go next year even if you have to book a plain ticket across the world.
and best of all..i got a pic with Dr. Tareq Suwaidan and Sami Yusuf!!:D:D:D
