Mets Update - Delgado Signed! Wagner Next?
Published by Haseeb November 24th, 2005 in Sports
So what have the Mets been up to in the offseason? A lot!
After a solid, yet disappointing season nonetheless, the Mets are actively looking to reamp their roster for the upcoming season.
Yesterday, the Mets traded 1B Mike Jacobs and a pitcher for Carlos Delgado, as reported first in Newsday. This probably means we wont be going after Manny, but Im still optimistic. Another interesting tidbit about Delgado is that he refuses to stand for the national anthem or the playing of God Bless America, as he usually stays in the dugout during the song. I respect his decision, but I hope others dont make a big deal out it. He hit 30+ with 100+ RBI last year, and his bat is desparately needed!
We still need help in the bullpen, 2B, C, and in RF (Cameron was sent to the Padres earlier this offseason). As far as relief pitching goes, the Mets have met with Billy Wagner this week (and wined and dined him extravagantly!) and while he says hes open to all offers, we’re definitely leading the way with a hefty $30 million contract (mets.com). Wagner would be a great addition to our bullpen inshallah :). … lets go mets!

I’ll be impressed if the Muts finish higher than 3rd.
Oh, and weren’t you the same herb complaining about the Yankees buying their team? Hmmmmm
our best player, and the future MVP of the league is none other than home-grown David Wright! He makes up for these signings!
Firstly, I have been one, among the many, who have visited your site because of the Outlandish/Sami Yusuf BUT that is not the only reason. Your a METS fan!!! Thats awesome. Keep posting regularly. P.S. I would like to see the 786 boyz video “Dua” on your site too!
Derek Jeter and Mariano are both home-grown, those two alone are better than the entire Mets team.
