New Music Player

I finally found a suitable flash audio player for my site where I uploaded both complete albums of Outlandish’s Closer Than Veins, as well as Sami Yusuf’s My Ummah. These are non-downloadable streaming audio files, and include all complete tracks of every song on both albums!

This should be particularly useful for all of those wanting to hear Outlandish’s latest album as it has only been released in parts of Europe thus far. Now you can all listen to the entire album (full complete songs, not just 1 minute clips) right here (top right corner, under the search field in the MAIN-BLOG page).

And on a side note, i finally realize that the guestbook only works with Firefox and Not Internet Explorer. I’ll look into fixing this problem when I get some time. I really would like to recommend that you download Firefox. And you can do so by clicking the appropriate link on my right side menu. Thanks.

*UPDATE* - Guestbook now works with Internet Explorer too (but i still suggest you download Firefox!)

LISTEN UP. Yes, we all know that dua is way more important than actually doing something like writing a letter or making a phone call. I mean, one is celestial and the other is just…well…its just physical, its not like itll actually accomplish something right? So listen up you apathetic one. we all know you won’t write a letter or make a call for earthquake victims because thats for the OTHER Guy to do. But for once just do something yourself! You can put off maghrib for one minute. gawd will understand, im sure, hes busy watching 9 billion other people in case you forgot. check this out.

You put in your zip code, pick 5 news organizations you would like letters sent to, then you pick a PREPACKAGED message, and enter in your address. THEY WRITE THE LETTER. THEY PRINT IT OUT, THEY MAIL IT IN. It takes you less than 1 minute and it produces 5 pieces of mail!!! get to it!

No, thats the point of the player - its just there for you to listen to online

If you like the music - buy Sami Yusuf’s CD @ awakening.org or islamicbookstore.com ; and buy Outlandish’s Closer than Veins once its released wherever you are.

oooooor just buy the cd. think of it this way… if it’s wrong to steal personal property - why would you steal someone’s intellectual property? (and from a person who’s music you like?! “i like your music - therefore i shall steal it”???) com’on guys - don’t be lazy.. if anything - they deserve your money for you enjoying their music and creative talent. they have livelihoods, families to support, etc… you’re contribution by purchasing a single cd may not be much after administrative and distributor costs - but a river’s made of millions of droplets. your droplet of a contribution along w/ the millions of other fans - adds up. so just listen to it here to get your fill while you await distribution in your local areas… and purchase it when it comes out! :)
fyi - there are numerous articles and Islamic organizations that actively speak against piracy and illegal dl’ing of music. so just play it safe and walk the straight line folks. peace!

Copyright is intellectual property, not physical property. When you buy a book, CD, or other copyright material, you have purchased a physical copy of something that another owns the intellectual copyrights to. You have the ownership-based right to use this physical copy as you wish.

However, as the contemporary fuqaha explain, owning a something does not necessarily give you the right to make another copy of it. A simple example they give is money. If I have a US$100 bill, I have the ownership-based right to use it as I wish. However, I do not have the legal right to make “copies” of the US$100 bill, as most of us would reasonably agree.

The danger of breaking copyright laws is clear: you would be wronging others, and the Prophet (Allah (SWT) bless him & give him peace) said, “Wrongs are darknesses on the Day of Judgement.” The warnings against wronging others are frequent in the Qur’an and Sunnah.

And Allah (SWT) alone gives success.

    Wassalam,

    Faraz Rabbani.
