So I finally found the video for Outlandish’s latest single, “Look Into My Eyes”

This is their 4th video so far following Guantanamo, Aicha, and Walou.

Look into my Eyes is based on a poem written by an amazing Palestinian poet. Gihad Ali, on her take on the injustice in Israel/Palestine. Its quite a deep poem, and song, and I really liked how they portrayed this issue in the video in terms of an middle school play starring a cute Palestinian girl. It has many very metaphorical and in my opinion is quite tasteful.

(Jazakallah khair for the correction submitted by Marwan!)

The little Palestinian girl is very cute ma sha Allah (SWT). And they made the tone lighter by doing this clip, cause the song is pretty tough though.

    Salam Alaikoem wrwb,
I saw the video and I was quite surprised. I didn’t expect the video like this when I first heard the song. I thought it would be a moving / tragic video because the song is.
But maybe it’s better this way. However I LOVE Outlandish and they are and always will be my #1.

I’m a little late but i didn’t hear the song before outlandish were performing it on nordic music awards not long ago… But when I heard the song I simply loved it. The lyric is great and the beat is rocking! But the video was a disappoinment. Come on, the song was about bombing and people getting killed, and the video ended happy? In my opinion the music video didn’t illustrate the importence of the song. It just didn’t do it justice..

  16. 16 aLi from: Great Britain (UK) gbyour flag

The Vid don’t suit the song-There’s lots they could have done with that song, but Alhamdulillah- it’s the lyrics that matter!

The album is only out in Denmark and will be released throughout europe early 2006. It’s a great album and the video is very well done, mainly to not scare off the western people who have not much knowledge of the situation. You must always teach stuff like this to people by beginning slow, but accurate. I think it was a great move.

I agree with most of yall who said the video doesn’t go with the lyrics of the song , but lenny wearing that suit is a hell of a laugh , the kids would see an Israeli soldier as a monster , but hell they are worse than wolves they are hideous.

maasalama , i actually thank outlandish for making that song, Allhamdulilah

I really liked this video and the lyrics are deep! Free Palestine inshallah!

  35. 35 Nura from: Great Britain (UK) gbyour flag

I have to agree with the Aquintance of the group, the video may not have done justice to the song, as some have said, but in order for it to be heard and given the attention it deserves, you have to start from the ground up and in an attractable way, so as to not scare of the Westerners who may not otherwise know of our deep rooted plights. Personally I think its a great video with a great message, and the incorporation of little red riding hood to convey that message is EXCELLENT. Well Done Outlandish.

Qite sad that though that I have to wait til 2006 to get the new album, but I shall wait (with much anticipation).

P.S. Hahmed, this is a great site.

  36. 36 Judith from: Denmark dkyour flag

I don’t like the one-sited, subjective covering of the situation. There is more to it that Israel and the US= evil and palestinians = poor, innocent victims.

Did you know that USA has sponsored most of the schools built in palestine?

  37. 37 Nura from: Great Britain (UK) gbyour flag

Judith I agree its not fair in any event to merely view it on one side, and yes there is MUCH more to the sitaution than meets the eye. However while you speak of america sponsoring schools in Palestine, how many children do you think are alive and able to attend? Sponsorship of this kind is not something that is going to be highly regarded, when there is so much fighting going on, how can one enjoy the pleasures of education when they are fighting to see tomorrow. Great that America is putting its money into the education of Palestinians, but the money would be better spent in securing a safer environment for which the children can actually live in and attend such establishments. And its unfortunate that America and Isreal have been branded EVIL, but how can one dispute that argument when the cause of the struggle lies with them. When the ending of the struggle lies in THEIR hands.
Palestinians ARE poor and innocent victims, they are the ones that have been raped of their land, their homes bulldozed by the “evil” forces. Im sorry Judith, forgive me, but my anger doesnt lie with you, and so dont think I am necessarily aiming it at you. But I dont have sympathy for the West. What have they lost, that we havent lost? That we continue to lose.

Outlandish are brave individuals for having the courage to speak out against such evil, they’r video is excellent in portraying a part of Palestinian life, through a classic children’s story, just listen to the lyrics, they ring true to our ears and thank God a group that doesnt sit on the fence about such issues, their words are true, not fabricated in any way, history can tell you that. Palestinians have struggled long enough, they’r plight echoed in arabic songs for decades, finally the Western world can be exposed to the same plight through the lyrics of their ever growing, and talented group that is OUTLANDISH. And if I am correct in saying the single has already reached the top 10 on the Danish and German charts. So somebody’s listening. I just hope that it effects the non arabs in the same way its affected us for so long.
Outlandish are just so refreshing to hear, they speak of issues that concern the arab/muslim world and the world in general, issues that concern the youths of today, without prejudice, they’r role models in their own right, and I hope they keep shining through with their ever growing talents. Mash’Allah (SWT) to them all.

Yalla much love and respect to you all.
    Wa 3likum al salam.

Wonderful !! May Allah (SWT) bless Sami and shower him with His blessings !

  39. 39 Henrik from: Denmark dkyour flag

Judith -> it’s not a one-sited, subjective covering of the situation. It’s a story/truth seen through the eyes of a Palestinian poet.

But yes - there are always 2 sites of every story. And it can only be one-sited if you only listen to one of the stories.

It’s a great song with a strong politic message. I don’t know much about the conflict - but this song made me open my eyes and look beyond the hollow walls from the media - this is a true story - and it dosen’t matter if it comes from one site or the other.

Salaamz, i am a v big fan of Outlandish n hav both of their albums. I think this vid is really sweet, i lyk the way they put such powerful words in to such a cute video. Tho in a way its kinda effective. if u hav their new album, im not quite sure abt the song ‘come on’ it has quite a bit of swearing n the lyrics are a bit of a put off. Tho the beat is gud etc for a pop song. But i still love outlandish and Sami Yusuf. N the fact that theyve cum 2 geva is wicked Mash’Allah (SWT)! Insh’Allah (SWT), their music will make ppl stop listnin 2 pop/rnb rubbish n will listen to nasheeds.
    Their songs are BRILL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. 49 Disturbed by soft thinking from: Denmark dkyour flag

Nura: your message of Nov 26 revels that your sense of anger may have clouded your ability to reason things out or perhaps you never had the ability or perhaps you just decided not to use it. No good can come of this. While there is a place for emotion over logic and reason - this isn’t one of those times. This is a deadly serious issue and unless cooler heads than yours prevail, more of the deadly is what we get.

Henrik (November 27): “it’s not a one-sited, subjective covering of the situation. It’s a story/truth seen through the eyes of a Palestinian poet.”… ? You have to be kidding. The “story/truth seen through the eyes of a Palestinian poet” IS exactly why it’s subjective. If you “don’t know much about the conflict ” then learn about it before preaching your nonsence.

The song/video: Propaganda of a nasty sort. A sort which speaks primarily to the emotions of those who are too young and too ill-informed to defend against its distortions.

  57. 57 Nemesis6 from: Denmark dkyour flag

Let’s be blunt about this, throwing away the pathetic “story” of the video: The video is pure propaganda. Moreover, it ignores several main factors: The security barrier was erected because of the PA terror government’s(see PLO, PA transformation) utter failure in keeping total anarchy and terrorism from taking over its territory.

I used to have a bit of respect for these guys. They made a few good songs, but they’ve proven themselves to be propagandists both through their latest music video’s theme and lyrics.

    Truly pathetic in my opinion.

  58. 58 JustMe... from: Great Britain (UK) gbyour flag

in reply to people that believe that outlandish are propgandists because of their latest lyrics and the look into my eyes video, all i can say is that because the author is in actual fact palestinian himself, obviously it will be subjective of his own views and therefore one sided. you cant have a go at outlandish calling them propogandists when other musik videos that u may watch (eg 50 cent or whoeva) promote their gangster/criminal ways of life. outlandish r not imposing their views onto u, so u dont need to agree with them.opinions are just that, opinions. which r not agreed with by every one.

on a more postive note, outlandish are doin a hevy job by bringin these up for debate, instead of people chatin bout other stuff they are chtin bout issues of substance. even if u dont agree with the video, the fact that u started thinkin bout the issue in hand shows that the video has had an effect on u n outlandish have dun part of their job. and lets hope that outlandish cna carry on with what they do coz theyre helpin the youth to stop lisnin to musik dt promotes the rong kinda things, n instead listen to music that focuses on the truth. keep it up! the nu album is really good, heavy colabortion wid sami yusuf!

Nothing needs to be done or apologized for. In this world you and the things you hold dear will, from time to time, be insulted. That’s just the way it is. Turing outrage into violence is: WRONG. In this case the newspaper published cartoons, true, but by what imagined right do you think you get to make a big deal about it much less add your pretty anger to fan the flame of hatedred which as of today has already caused 11 human beings (muslims at that) to die. Was it worth it? Why would people who don’t share your religious views have to follow it’s taboos? Shame on you Noor, your childish pride has led you to fight the wrong fight and now lives are ruined. To make things worse you’ve got the basic facts wrong and so does the web site you tell people to go to. Serve the truth and be a mensch.

Soft Thinking……..wow……..you are very aggressive in your speeches. We should all be able to discuss such things peacefully, no matter what religion we are, and look at the whole picture from both angles…..that being said, Let’s think about the video. If the video to “look into my eyes” was made by a jewish group, about a Jewish girl, with the exact same meaning, but the tables turned….the girl not wearing the Palestinian scarf, and the wolf representing the Palestinians………would you feel the same? My philosphy is, “why can’t we all just get along?” And I try to live by that every day of my life, having friends that are Jewish, Christian, etc. I am an American born Palestinian and Muslim, and have seen much to educate myself in the area of Palestine. YES, the poor children of Palestine are hurting, to say the least…and YES the poor children of Israel are hurting as well…but this song was portrayed from the Palestinian perspective…and there is nothing wrong with that. It is in all means, true.
Regarding the cartoonists publications. The base behind this issue is that for the Muslims of Islam, to portray their deceased Prophet Muhammad (SAWS)(SWT) in a derogatory way is EXTREMELY offensive to most Muslims of this world. I’m not sure how you would feel if someone put up a cartoon of your grandmother or mother or father, whom you highly respect….and has passed away….how would you feel if they made a mockery of them for the whole world to see? In no means am I saying this excuses the craziness of the Muslims and their revolts and killings and burnings….this is AGAINST ISLAM and is not in any way acceptable by the religion. These people will be punished for doing such deeds.
I would just like us all to look at both sides of the story before we speak to one another with our “opinions”. Thank you

    salamulakum…

outlandish, wow you guys are amazin…this music it’s like a whole new culture has been created. There are songs for people who are muslims over seas in the muslim world, there are songs for people in the western world, but no one ever acknowledges that theres more out there. These songs, aicha, look into my eyes, fatima’s hands all of them, they hit us, a generation thats never been targeted. We’re muslims, arabs pakistani etc., living in the west. we have our own culture, our own feelings, whole new dynamics. outlandish hits that, so does this site, and thanks for everyone who presents that….it helps out a lot….

el moro also encompasses muslims from north africa and the arab world living or part of spain. It’s kind of like an older term specifically to that group of diverse backaround….but it’s also a lot like us, Muslim, Arab/desi/spanish/etc….livign in another society! idk if that helps at all but orginally moro meant Muslim in spanish literally, but meant that group!

hope you all are doing great, take care and salam

I absolutely love the video clip of “Look into my eyes”…the metaphors are beautiful and accurate without being gory and vulgar…it is a fresh look on the unfortunate situation in palestine..but presents that hope which i think is at the bottom of everyones heart….infact i enjoyed the song sooo much…i am writing an essay on it…

Coming from a White American point of view I can say that this was the best way to show the content of the song. I dont think many Americans realize what we/Israel are doing to the Palestinians. And if Outlandish used more graphic images, Americans would definately see it as B.S, and see it as propaganda. So a big thanks to Outlandish and anyone else doing their part to better the situation over there.

i live in a muslim country(!) but the most of people who live in here, they simulate american life’s style as if they dont know what happened
and while they simulate them they go far from their religion, their bliefs.
i love OuTLandish becouse they simulate anything and express theirself without hesitation of anything. And i’m proud that they re respected a lot of places of world.
i love my religion and i feel honored every war which doing for islam and
every lyrics for explaining islam .

Rap & Hip-hop was never really my thing; however it is wonderful to know that people out there are using their talents in ways of breaking stereo-types in opposed to exploiting it.
And i feel that their efforts are wonderful and should be fully acknowledged world-wide.
    Cheers, Keep smiling people-

    Assalamualaikum..

I’m quite shock .. this is the first time i’ve heard about Outlandish … they truly got some great music.. i think they got really big pottential .. they should try to sell their album here in Asia.. especially Malaysia…

  98. 98 Rayie from: Singapore sgyour flag

    Salaam.
I am from Singapore. i agree, Outlandish is virtually unknown in SE Asia. i have been listening to Outlandish since Bread&Barrels of water, and i knew of them when i was in Egypt. Poor me, i dun even knOw they have a new album Out. This is indeed a great band, and they bring a strong beneficial message.
A message to all, keep Islam in our mind always, and may listening to Outland songs bring us closer to Him. Aamien.
P/s: brother from Malaysia, u can get the cd’s from Amazon. yeah, maybe we can try to bring them in. Malaysia is a very suitable country to. :)

“Come on, the song was about bombing and people getting killed, and the video ended happy? In my opinion the music video didn’t illustrate the importence of the song.” OMG NORSK FELLA I MUST DISAGREE WITH YOU !!! WHAT DID YOU EXPECT, THE REALITY IS ALREADY TOO TOUGH TO DEAL WITH, IT WOULD BE TOO SAD AND UNBEARABLE TO HAVE A VIDEO THAT SHOWS PPL BEING KILLED. I THINK THE BAD DID AS EXPECTED, THEY WERE BRILLIANTLY ARTISTIC AND TRIED TO SHOW SOME BEAUTY INSTEAD OF JUST PUTTING US DOWN, IF YOU PAY ATTENTION TO THE LYRICS IT´S NOT ALL ABOUT WAR AND INJUSTICE BUT THE CHORUS LEAVES US A HOPEFUL MESSAGE THAT ALL THIS

:x “the video was a disappoinment. Come on, the song was about bombing and people getting killed, and the video ended happy?” :s MY DEAR NORSK FELLA !!!! WHAT DID U EXPECT!! THE REALITY IS TOUGH ENOUGH, WOULD YOU RATHER THEY HAD SHOWN PPL BEING KILLED!!!! PAY ATTENTION TO THE VIDEO FCS ! IT´S BRILLIANTLY ARTISTIC AND IT SHOWS HOW UNFAIR IT IS FOR THE PPL AND KIDS IN PALESTINE AND WHAT A LACK OF FREEDOM THOSE KIDS HAVE TO FACE EVERYDAY WHEN THEY´D RATHER BE LIVING IN A COLORFUL BEAUTIFUL PLACE IN WHICH THEY COULD BE GOING TO SCHOOL WITHOUT THE FEAR OF BEING BOMBED ON THE WAY OR SWEETTALKED IN ORDER TO JOIN THE ARMY !! I´M BRAZILIAN AND I SAY WELL DONE OUTLANDISH !!! THE VIDEO AND THE LYRICS ARE A FAVOUR TO THE WORLD WE NEED MORE OF THAT TO OPEN OUR BLINDED DECEIVED EYES …
