Just a quick roundup of my present sports interests…

Yea yea… as a commenter in my previous post has so eloquently written, lol, it looks like i will be having some white sauce/hot sauce with my words, as next year probably wont be this year. Yea yea, people like Arif, and Ali have been on my case all year about the mets, and it looks like this year i will again have to eat my words… I remember posting a couple of weeks ago about how hot the mets have been, but then came the nats, braves, marlins, and cardinals, and what happens? They lose 13 of their last 16 games!! and yes, they have sucked. They have been in an offensive slump and its been nothing short of deplorable. Theyre under .500 and are out of the wild card picture… :o(. Yesterday Piazza finally returned to action hoping to liven the dead Mets after being out with an injury. During his first at bat, he hit a HR, but later in the game he was beamed in the helmet and is out with a slight concussion and currently listed as day to day. How symbolic of the entire Mets season… :-/

Andre Agassi, after an impressive run, and a very impressive performance in the US Open finals, just couldn match up to Roger Federer. Nonetheless Agassi played well, and at 35 had an exceptional game. Too bad though, Federer won, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (1), 6-1. Federer actually won the both the Wimbledon and US Open (the two greatest tennis tournaments today) back to back 2 years in a row now, and thats quite a feat. I personally put that right up there with Lance Armstrong’s 7 consecutive French Open victories (who the hell cares about cycling anyways??).

And my Deenz List!!!!! omg, this was the first week of the south asian softball playoffs. In the first (wild card round) we came back from behind, down by 2 runs in the 7th to beat the Mosquitoes to earn a spot in the semifinals. In the semis we played #1 seed, the Outlaws in a best of three series. After an impressive underdog victory in game 1, we lost badly in the 2nd game. There wasnt enough time for have game 3 this week, so the series will have to be decided next week. Oh man i sooo miss softball and the league and playing for my team. I am so proud of my teammates for playing so well, especially for Usman and his leadership. I heard Nadeem played exceptionally well too and mad props to him. Inshallah after we beat the Outlaws next week I am sure either Nadeem or Usman will end up with the Playoff MVP award. And also after the outlaws its onto the finals against the impressive Shock (who swept their opposition in the semis and are awaiting the winner of the Deenz List vs Outlaws in the championship series). Mad exciting, im soo sorry i cant be there :o(

Deenz List

This was the first weekend of football as well. I didnt catch the games earlier but my Jets lost pretty bad to Kansas City. The jets have looked good on paper and are expected to play well. Remember its a long season, one first loss doenst mean anything yet - but then again i dont want to jinx my Jets… Go Gang Green!
