Hurricane, Gas Prices, Baghdad Stampede… :-(
Published by Haseeb August 31st, 2005 in Current NewsBeing at school, ive been kind of isolated from the real world and havent done that great a job of keeping up with the world’s latest news and happenings, but I just had comment on the horrible calamaties that have occurred over the past couple of days.
Thousands of Americans have drowned due to Hurricane Katrina, which has left much of the coastal areas of Mississipi, and Lousiana as a disaster zone.

It will surely take years to recover the losses due to this storm, as this was probably the deadliest and most damaging storm to hit the United States in almost a century. since the 1908 Earthquake. Please click here or here or here to contribute in the relief efforts, or at the very least include the residents of the calamity and their loved ones in your prayers.
And if you unfortunately arent feeling for the victims and sympathizing emotionally, then you will certain feel the repurcussions financially. Gasoline prices have surged to an even higher all time high in response to the hurricane, as the nation’s largest oil hub was located in that locale. Prices throughout the U.S. have surged greatly within hours after the hurricane and is expected to jump to about $3.25 a gallon throughout the country by this weekend! And its even worse in certain places. And to think just last year gas was ONLY $1.86 a gallon (on average).

And earlier today, anywhere between 800-1000 Shia pilgrims to Baghdad were killed by being run over or drowned as a stampede ensued in response to threats and rumors of a planned suicine attack. This was the single largest day of casualties in Iraq since March 2003, when we first unjustfully invaded and attacked Iraq.

Subhanallah… its so amazing how so much is going on in the world, so much that is really beyond any of our control… Really makes u want to reflect on what really matters in life, and how temporary and futile this worldly life really is….

May Allah
forgive all those who have passed away for their sins and show mercy for them in the afterlife. Also, may Allah
help and make easy for all those who are struggling with whatever trials and tribulations we are being dealt with, including those from the calamaties of Hurricane Katrina and the Baghdad Stampede. Aameen.

who wouldn’t feel for the victims in both New Orleans and Iraq,
give the families sabr in both cases.
subhanallah, may Allah
