Chicken Run, Red Hot Mets!!!
Published by Haseeb August 27th, 2005 in Personal, SportsLast night was nice. A bunch of bros got together in nYc to have dinner… at the Chicken Guy! It was awesome to see so many people show up, all united by the great food that only the chicken guy can provide. Special shout out to Ali who came through from Jersey and is off to London this week. Seriously, I really miss the brotherhood and friendship and comradery that was only present at Stony Brook. I just hope I remain in close contact with all those people there whose mere presence has meant so much to me and has helped shape me into who I am today.

But I really wanted to comment on the Mets recent winning streak. The Mets are playing by far their best baseball of the season, and their best baseball as a franchise in years. After completing a four game sweep in Arizone last night, the Mets are only 1.5 games behind the NL wold card spot! And with their recent play as of late it would be hard to argue against the Mets being the favorites to take on the final playoff spot. As Mike Piazza mentioned on the best damn sports show on Thursday night, the mets really do have a new sense of mojo as of late. In the series in Arizona alone, the Mets as a team batted .326 scoring 39 runs! And the most promising fact is that we are being led by our young talent, most notably David Wright, along with Jose Reyes and newly called up Mike Jacobs who hit four HR in his first 4 games (13 at bats) and is currently batting .400 for the Mets in less than a week of action. With the recent injuries to Cameron and Piazza, lets home this Mike can stay healthy the rest of the season. And theres even more good news for mets fans, as Steve Trachsel is finlaly back and he certainly looks good with his performance last night (first start of the season). He flirted with a no-hitter till the sixth inning and ended the game with a 8 inning 2 hitter on way to his first win of the season. Finally, its a great time to be a Mets fan, and i certainly hope this hot streak is not just a streak and will carry on till the World Series. ![]()
