After class today I went out to get a couple of items i needed (milk, a nail clipper, etc), so I decided to go to this local 99 cents store like 3 blocks from our dorms with a friend. This store is amazing. It was HUGE, bigger than most supermarkets, and had like everything from groceries (incl. frozen food!) to cutlery, to kitchen stuff, cleaning supplies, everything! Its great, especially for a poor med student like me. I ended up getting all this stuff for less than 7 bux. I really am getting used to brooklyn and beginning to like this place. Its really awesome to have a great roomate and good friends nearby. One thing I found funny is while most of these ppl are generally poor african american/carribean people, and the neighborhood is filled with alot cheap stores and fast food restaurants (incl. 2 CFCs!!) , there are soo many fancy hair salons/barber shops, and this one really nice sneaker store with like the newest jordans and all the latest footgear. These people really do take pride in their hair and kicks…

and for all those emailing me in response to Ammad’s news update regarding my injury (http://www.southasiansoftball.com/), its not that serious. Alhamdulillah im fine, there was no internal damage besides the fracture, and inshallah the fracture should self heal in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile I just have a little chubbier nose than usual for a couple of weeks, but its still smaller than alot of my friends’ noses!!!
