Mets 57-54, Deenz List 4-6
Published by Haseeb August 8th, 2005 in SportsOh man, the NL East is competitive. Even though the Mets are LAST in the division, we are only 3 games behind the Wild Card Spot. After a rough losing series against the Brewers, the Mets impressively swept the Cubs this past weekend. Thursdays loss was especially heartbreaking, beacause we had a 9-7 lead going into the 9th inning, and our bullpen blew it in the 9th giving up 5 runs!!! Anyways, we have been undefeated since, and our team looks good. These final weeks of the baseball season will be very entertaining given how close the NL East, or rather the wild card race is in the NL. I like Piazza’s move down to 6th. Wright is hitting phenomenally, and deserves to bat 5th. In fact, if it were up to me, Id move him up to the 3 spot, and move Beltran down to 5. Jose Reyes currently has a 20 game hit streak (the longest in the majors thus far) and has far exceeded anyones expectations. He has some insane stat of scoring when he gets on base over 60% of time or something like that. And even if (god-forbid) this isnt our championship season, the Mets have a long bright future as well with Reyes and Wright leading the way over at least the next decade or so, as both players are right about my age. (Wright being 3 months older than me, and Reyes 3 months YOUNGER than me).
Deenz List - 4th Place in the South Asian Softball League
We pulled an impressive come from behind win in our first half of our weekly doubleheader defeating the Dynasty and moving up to 4th place in the league. I was 2-4 with an RBI. Our outfield defense was superb, holding the Dynasty to few extra base hits. Our infield was quite rusty this game. Our second game wasnt as fortunate. Our season high two game win streak was snapped as we were sniped by the hitmen. Our quick 1st inning lead was overtaken in the bottom of the first and we never came back. Our infield defense struggled again. We had a close comeback late in the game, including a crazy 3-run homerun in the top of the 6th by me. LoL it was actually a bloop single that i stretched to a double. I actually kept running and was caught in a rundown between 2nd and 3rd base. i forced a couple of throws back and forth, and decided to just go head on into third (I knew what i was doing!!!). I slid head first into third base, streching my arm right between the 3rd baseman who (under my pressure) missed the catch in his attempt to tag me. As the ball went past him, i quickly got back up to my feet and ran home. haha, really fun. I wish you I had recorded that play. I still remember Usman yelling STUPID!!! as i overran 2nd. LOL. I love softball. Too bad we ended up losing that game.
And unfortunately I think that was my final game of the season as well. I will be moving to brooklyn and starting med school this coming Sunday inshallah. At least classes dont begin for another week. Usman has taken my spot as team captain, and inshallah Arif will be joining (or rather re-joining) the Deenz List this week. He will provide some needed infield help inshallah.
Lets go Mets!… Lets go Deenz List!!!

Bro, its been a pleasure playing along side you this summer. I will do my best to continue your winning ways as team captain, (always room for improvement) …my bad for calling you stupid on that play. Well, you are not stupid. But that play man…It was beyond stupid. You got lucky, as you always seem to do when you are running wild from base to base, falling, tripping, sliding, jumping, dodging, pivoting, praying….. Im gonna miss those plays. But something tells me you gonna come through for a game or two in the playoffs. Your a legend maaaaan. Med School can’t hold legends back. The diamond cries for them every night in there prayers. O.K., maybe not. Don’t worry haseeb, insha’Allah
, we gonna take it. PEACE
