Last Friday i was called for Jury Duty (after having been put on call for an entire week). Im not really doing much this summer, so i figure it would be nice to serve as a jury member and help decide a civil/criminal case, as my part as establishing some sort of justice on some local matter in Queens county. Furthermore, it would be a great experience, and plus i would get paid for it too! So when I finally get invited to jury duty, they called me up to a case. I was one of about 25 potential jury members for this civil case regarding a car accident and a subequent lawsuit. So after the lawyers interviewed us, I was one of the 8 jury members chosed to decide this case. I was excited and looked forward in hearing the case. We were given a lunch break where I had the opportunity to grab a quick bite to eat at a CFC nearby, and also attend jummah at a local Masjid. So after all this I returned to the courthouse all excited and anxious to serve. As soon as we get called in to the room - get this, the judge tells us both parties settled the case!!! I was releived of my jury duty, but i didnt even get to hear any arguments or anything!!! I got jipped!
Oh well, maybe ill get invited to serve again in another six years or so…
