baseball woes…
Published by Haseeb March 18th, 2005 in SportsI love baseball, theres nothing like it. The large green fields, the long 9 on 9 games, excellent combination of the importance of teamwork on defense and individual play on offense, and the value of all the little things, like the extra effort on a defensive play or when running the bases and sliding. theres nothing like playing baseball with 17+ other friends on a nice warm sunny afternoon…. Well today baseball (softball) was cancelled :(, no1 brought any equipment. Oh well, we played basketball instead, and it wasnt bad, my team (with usman, naveed, and amir) went undefeated (5-0) this afternoon. I actually didnt suck as usual today and made some decent plays. It was fun.
Anyways back to baseball, aside from playing it, i love watching it. Ive talked about how much I love the mets and how I am looking forward to this upcoming season. NEXT YEAR IS NOW! lol i love that new campaign slogan the mets have going. I will write more about hte upcoming mets season soon probably. And please i dont want to hear anything from yankee fans! Yes that includes you!

However what has really upset me, and most other baseball fans is the STERIODs issue. Caminiti, Canseco, Bonds, and many others have all tainted all the baseball I grew up watching. The past 15-20 years of this sport I love so much has all been corrupted with steroids. And yesterday we found out that MARK MCGWIRE by denying his taking of steroids during the US Senate hearing, he basically admitted his guilt. Palmero and Sosa denied it, but I dont know who to believe anymore. Just look at Sosa and all the weight he gained over the years. It was so obvious with Bonds and Giambi, and im sure its the same for Sosa. The power era of baseball and the homerun races were all drugged! They all probably took steroids (except Piazza!). I remember when hitting 25-30 homeruns a year was considered great, and 40 the number for excellence. Now we have people hitting 70+ homeruns a year! This is ridiculous. Sure every1 loves the long ball, but what i love more is the real honest competitive game that i love playing and what I thought to have loved watching.

You got to give it to Met fans, they never stop losing hope…bechara. You’ve suffered enough, I won’t say anything else.
